As a lefty do you notice your lifestyle a lot different than others? Like clothing, hygeine, eating, sleeping, exercise, relationships, personality/attitude/behaviors, hobbies or your job?

i steal my clothes, i dont shower, i eat only according to freeganism, sleeping is reactionairy, i exercise by trowing bricks and jacking off, all relationships under capitalism constitute as institutionalized rape, we are all asspies, politics is my hobby to make up for my total failure at anything else in life

True leftists discard all shackles of bourgeois society - clothing conventions (nudism is truly proletarian); hygeine (cleanliness is saved for the bourgeois swine that need to be presentable in high society); food (only bread, water, gruel for leftists); sleeping (none, as the true proletariat is working night and day for the motherland); exercise (none, work in the gulag is exercise enough); relationships (sexual relationships are vestiges of puritan bourgeois culture, friendships are for capitalists). Finally, all leftists are unfriendly, stoic, and care not for their own well-being.

No. Because as a lefty I am still a normal person.

No. Aside from the fact that my personality/attitude is influenced, obviously, by my beliefs, things like clothing and showering aren't directly affected by my leftism.

Not having lived life as another (non-"lefty") person, I don't have so much frame of reference. I've also been a leftist for all of my adult life (and much time as a teenager). Still, I'll address your points as well as I can--

Clothing: Most of my clothing is from second hand shops. That's mostly because I'm poor and don't want to pay $40 for a pair of trousers I can get second hand for $4. You won't see me wearing any "branded" clothing, because I prefer not to use my body as advertising space.

Hygiene, eating, and sleeping: Aside from my awesome beard, not a real difference in hygiene. Nor with sleeping. For food some of my comrades and I have started a small organic garden to give fresh veggies during the summer. Other than that, food is "normal" also.

Exercise: When I lived with some other comrades, we used to do morning runs a couple of times a week and evening sports a few times also. It was our common decision to keep our bodies healthy. Now, I live alone and, aside from some yoga now and then, I don't do so much for sports.

Relationships: I date another leftist.

Personality/attitudes/behaviors and hobbies: Well, I'm a leftist. That's part of my personality, attitudes, and behaviors.

Job: For four of the last five years, I've been working in the non-profit/NGO sector. I've found that going to work to improve the bottom line for some fucking capitalist investor just doesn't do it for me. Working to improve living conditions for people is much more fulfilling. I can get enough money to get by working in NGO's, so that's what I do.

Alright, never mind. You guys are right. Dumb question in deed. You don't have to keep posting here. I thought it would be funny to see how many of us fit the "hippie" stereo-type people on the left are generally given. Looks like that failed to come through. Oh-well, whatever.

Not looking like a hippie is a good thing. Hippies are trash.

The police/fash will profile, so you need to be able to 'fit in' in any given circumstance or you will be dragged out of a crowd and beaten.

I lied, I'm not a hippie, I'm actually quite well dressed and impeccably groomed. The only thing different about my lifestyle is my constant search for RL comrades. Also I try to make everything myself, but that doesn't work, so I give up.

I try to keep myself well groomed, but that is difficult with so much body hair, so lots of wax. Also, I straighten my hair to keep it from being so wavy. My clothing is simple. I wear lots of t-shirts, but that is mainly because I can't afford anything else. I have a lot of those free shirts, but I hate being a bill board. I wash my hands frequently and shower twice a day so I think my hygiene is solid. I also have an obsession with white teeth so I will brush 3 or more times a day and will almost constantly flossing my teeth when doing things like reading on revleft. I actually think my hygiene might be a bit overboard, but I can't help it. I'm a clean freak. :/

I wear fashionable clothing, have good hygiene, eat well, sleep 8 hours a day, gym every morning, have been in two semi-serious relationships over the last year, I consider myself outgoing and endearing, have been referred to as 'a little eccentric', my principle hobby is graphic design and I've worked in marketing and publicity, retail, an amusement park and in an MP's office.

The way I dress is more influenced by subcultures I am into, than it is by my politics. In fact, except for the occasional political shirt I might wear, you wouldn't even know I was political.

I have a RAAN shirt and a shirt that says "DEFEND OAKLAND" with an AK on it. This is the extent of my political "lifestyle."

WHAT THE FUCK mate.
it's not healthy to shower so much. your hair will fall off if you wash it too much and you will easily get allergic since your immune system won't be used to normal filth.

Well i allways wear a tie and ALLWAYS a shirt. T-shirts are for social losers.
i find much of my clothes in the trash, but things like underwear and undershirts i got from my parents. i tend to wear jewelry like
cuff buttons and silver collar pin, also handkerchiefs has to be on its spot.
all my clothes has to be ironed before use.
and polish my shoes whenever they are dirty

I shower normally, like most humans used to do, a little more then once in a week.

1918. I think it was a Tuesday.

I get up at 2am and shout my devotion to Our Glorious Leader. Then I sing patriotic songs about Comrade Beetroot until my vocal cords bleed.

Then I go out and plough my communal field (I say 'my' because I'm the only one in the Commune but the Shining Example of Our Glorious Leader will surely convince my fellow-toilers of the error of their ways in supporting Lickspittle Capitalist Running Dogs).

With a spoon. Not a silver one, mind, one I made from the shoulder-bones of a dead dog.

In my bare feet. I haven't yet managed to plough up the broken-glass strewn car-park (the glass and concrete make my feet bleed but it's all for Our Glorious Leader).

Then I go to bed and dream of parsnips.

So, no, my life is pretty much like everybody else's I guess.

I think the nearest I came to a really self suffcient life was when I was squatting, mostly dumpster diving/ skipping food or shoplifting it and helpin run a veggie cafe, working as a bike messenger, and was pretty commited to activisim in general.

After I had a kid, I moved into a housing co op and actually brought more food (though mostly through a food co op), but even when I was squatting I always washed daily (even if I only had a sink to get the water from). But I've known some proper fuckin crusties whose idea of washing is patuoli oil.

However if you saw me in the street I might look more like a football casual/skin head?

in this study those who showered daily were compared to those who showered weekly.
There are other reports that claim that showering daily causes your body to take in too much manganese and chlorine
not only that, it also can cause brain damage (in the US)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-354546/Having-shower-cause-brain-damage.html
On the other hand, the current theory is that the steep rise in rates of asthma and allergies is closely linked to hyper-cleanliness in childhood environments. This theory seems to be borne out in study after study.
