What do you all think of his work? What I find persistently amazing is that the acting is superb in all of them I've seen, they are all incredibly aesthetic from a camera work point of view, and the stories/characters are both tragic and tender at the same time. He is also very fond of making terrific drama out of the lives of people who are eking out an existince in society and out on their luck. But I'm really curious to hear what others think of his movies.

I've only seen Buenos Aires 1977 and thought it excellent. Where did you see his other films?

Sorry for the belated reply. I actually haven't seen Buenos Aires 1977 - from what I understand it is considered the most blatantly political of his works; as far as the rest of his films, a friend was really into it so he ordered the dvds from amazon. I've looked around but they are indeed a bit hard to find at the video rental stores.
