I don't have a source off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure alcoholism and hard drug use has skyrocketed since the fall of the USSR. You might wanna check out marxists.org to see if they have any specific statistics on the subject.

It's a research paper called "Substance Abuse in the Former USSR." The first part deals with alcohol, and the rest deals with drugs in general, breaking it down into patterns, sources, etc.. It seems that drug abuse in general in the USSR was "unheard of" and denied by the Russians. But other statistics suggest they had a problem.
