Black guerilla family

I search for the information about "Black guerilla family". I want to write about them for a site livasprava.info

All information about them in Russian sources is a small article in wikipedia where is spoken that they are left and marxists. I dont know English language so well to find more extensive information. If someone knows good researches on this theme, I ask to prompt the reference. Interests some questions.

1. Are they marxists or it already in the past?

2. Whether the truth, that only black can become member BGF ? Is it an attribute of racism of the organization?

It was founded as the prison/paramilitary arm of the Black Panther Party. The idea was that if either the BPP or BGF was destroyed the other could survive. Since the BPP was smashed by the state, the BGF has continued, but it is basically a criminal organization, and while they were once devout communists, since the defeats of the 1970's they have all but renounced Marxism in favor of a black nationalist version of Islam. Yes, it is racist and black-only, but petty-bourgeois communalism was not the original goal of its founders, racist gang violence is deliberately encouraged by the US prison-industrial complex which cuts security costs by having the oppressed communities kill and police each other; the BPP and BGF were heavily infiltrated if not taken over by government agents who steered them from a revolutionary-nationalist onto an opportunist-criminal course. If you want a good book from the political period of the BGF, I'd recommend Soledad Brother by its field marshal George Jackson. A modern pro-BGF perspective is offered by the recent movie Black August.

This is a criminal organization. But the fact that they called themselves Marxists interested me.

They were originally a communist revolutionary organisation, but now, afaik, they have abandoned class struggle and the Marxist label is largely a traditional identity kinda thing, and in practise they're engaged in what I would describe as a kind of lumpen revisionism.

Perhaps i'm wrong though, haven't seen a lot of info about what they're up to now
