View Full Version : Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Rally, 8/28

13th June 2010, 21:55
On August 28th, 2010, the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech, Glenn Beck will be holding a rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

As described on his website (glennbeck.com/828):
"Come join Glenn, Sarah Palin, Jo Dee Messina and Marcus Luttrell at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. on August 28, 2010 for the Restoring Honor Rally. This non-political, non-partisan event will recognize our First Amendment rights and honor the service members who fight to protect those freedoms."

Now, I know you don't have to be a god damn revolutionary to see through the massive amounts of bullshit spewed by these people, but COME ON.

How much longer will these racist, fear-mongering, manipulative LIARS be allowed to continue preaching to the oh-so-impressionable minds of America? How much longer will they go unchallenged?

For the past 5 years or so, these Neo-Con spokesmen have been forcing themselves into the public eye, spreading their dangerously ignorant, even detrimental opinions to anyone within earshot. And guess what! PEOPLE ARE LISTENING.

It's time to draw the line. No longer will these media personalities be able to sway the minds of Americans. No longer will they be allowed to disguise their lack of compassion and intellect as moral and just.

These folk are making a mockery of Martin Luther King Jr. - of progressives EVERYWHERE - with this rally. Almost 50 years ago, MLK stood with hundreds of thousands of supporters at this monument and brought the nation's attention to the injustices of segregation and inequality. It was a time of progressive solidarity - the Students for a Democratic Society were taking action, the Black Panthers were marching, and activism was in style. The world was beginning to take up arms and fight against the status quo, against imperialism and Western dominance. The word was spreading: "You have no right to control us!" ......

And from this, we have Glenn Beck? Sarah Palin? Tea Parties? Some of you may say that these people shouldn't even be considered threats or adversaries. Do I need to remind you how god damn close Sarah Palin was to becoming VICE PRESIDENT? Or how many Congressional positions have been filled by Tea Party supporters?

What has happened to the fervor? To the passion? We are revolutionaries, people! It's time to cut the bullshit and stand up against these wannabe oppressors. It's time to tell Fox News and the rest of the reactionary-right that they can't fuck with the minds of America anymore. It's time to tell the world that the revolutionary spirit will never die!

If you want to make your voice heard and bring an end to their influence, go to this rally. Scream at the top of your lungs, form a black bloc, wave banners, organize a march... do whatever you want! No matter what creed you follow or what methods you employ, all I ask is that you do something. We must fight in solidarity. Look past whatever differences you have with your allies and realize who it is you need to be fighting against.

Go to the rally and cause a fucking scene. Bring the New-Right to its knees.

a little off topic, but glenn beck seems to have some deep, dark hatred for progressives, especially Woodrow Wilson. I've watched his show a couple of times (it's always a good idea to see what the opposing side has to say), and all he did was go on and on and on about how evil progressivism is, and how Wilson is the anti-christ and so-on. I swear he does it on every episode, or at least the ones that i watched. He tries to compare Wilson and Obama to Hitler hahaha.

Here he is ranting about it for 6 minutes:

Woodrow Wilson was NOT progressive. He was the closest thing to a fascist president the US has ever had.

Glenn Beck has no idea what a real leftist looks like. He calls people like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi "far left." I also think he has a real problem distinguishing between communism, socialism, and fascism. He is a circus act and I don't think he believes even 25% of what he says. He's all about ratings. A complete joke of a human being.

Yeah, he actually segregated the federal bureaucracy.

I agree with protesting this rally. How is it supposed to be non political with Glen Beck there? That is filth. I live close enough to D.C, and I will be making a trip up there on the 29th, so I might be able to come early for any revolutionary protest. Let's talk about it.

A counter-demonstration at this rally is going to give him the credit he and his followers believe he deserves. He doesn't believe what he says- he's a sensationalized parody of someone asking for help in a dark time. Fuck him- make him sit in the corner with his friends (followers that he undoubtedly fucking hates) and give him some time alone in his self created dark-place.

Bologna!

Quite frankly, this is an insult to MLK, and the legacy of left leaning social and equality movements, and to just ignore it would be tantamount to a tacit approval.

Do something.

Well, thats something new that ive never heard.

Well, in the interest of fairness I think it's worth mentioning that as much of an asshole as Wilson was, he didn't have shit on Andrew Jackson or Franklin Roosevelt. Anyway, it's not like Wilson's blatantly racist policies are something that get talked about very much in history curricula since he's the guy who gets credit in the US for winning World War I. Americans, after all, do love to romanticize the past. Anyway, a good book on the subject of myths, inaccuracies, and outright lies in American history classrooms is 'Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong (http://www.amazon.com/Lies-My-Teacher-Told-Everything/dp/0684818868)' by James W. Lowen. It talks about alot of things every good American leftist should know, not least of which is that Helen Keller was a socialist, lulz.

If I was in the US, I would protest this. Glenn Beck makes me sick.

I would love to be there.

Glenn Beck, along with fellow neocon Sarah Palin have hurt the image of America more than George W Bush has. I am strongly in favor of more political activism, however this is just bad. They say that they are trying to protect first amendment rights, but whenever Beck has a liberal on his show, he barely lets them speak. It's despicable.

Even more than Reagan or King George the 2nd?

To Quote Wilson in 1907:

‘’Since trade ignores national boundaries and the manufacturer insists on having the world as a market, the flag of his nation most follow him. And the doors of the nations that are closed against him must be battered down.
Concessions obtained by financiers must be safeguarded by ministers of state, even if the sovereignty of unwilling nations be outraged in the process. Colonies must be obtained or planted in order that no useful corner of the world may be overlooked or left unused.’’
That's just saying it...

Later as president Wilson noted that the US was:

‘’ involved in a struggle to command the economic fortunes of the world’’.

Beck should practice what he preaches. There was some conservative congressman on his show a few months back (can't recall his name) who resigned because of some scandal. Anyway, he spoke his mind, which was unexpectedly anti-conservative. Anyway, Beck almost had a stroke, it seemed. Now he is too careful of who he invites on as a guest.

Glenn needs to grow a pair. If he is so right about everything, he would not be paranoid to go head-on with the opposition, face-to-face (are you listening, Limbaugh?)

you know, it is very true that beck has no idea what the real left is. only once have i seen him mention organizations like the ISO, SP-USA, RCP and so on. but he claims people like george fucking soros is a communist. he seems to think that democrats are progressive and marxist.

ive been watching his show, and its fucking mind numbing how idiotic he is.

hes also really keen on using ad hominem attacks.

Well, no matter what Glenn Beck says on TV, it hardly compares to what he says on his radio show.

I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out of him. Is this wrong?

The fact is that most conservatives really are violent, racist, fascist extremists, (if the numbers of weekly listeners and the book sales of people like Neal Boortz, Micheal Savage, and Glenn Beck are any indication) not just irritating assholes like liberals would have us think.

Bill Moyers Journal on PBS actually did a really good job of talking about this once. The video for that episode can still be found online here (http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/09122008/watch.html).
