New Zealand's first, not too suprising. Although we have a few troops in Afghanistan.
I wonder why the Netherlands score ten places lower than Belgium where the latter has a bigger fascist scene and there is of course the big media attention on the nation "breaking up" and whatnot.

Peaceful nation states are not peaceful due to virtue, but rather, weakness.

The US should be rock bottom, since its primarily responsible for the violence in Iraq.

reminds me of a related list i saw on the 'ten worst countries for women'. needless to say, Iran wasn't on it. needless to say, occupied Iraq and Afghanistan both were. i can't post links but you can easily find the list by googling the phrase 'In spite of real progress around the globe, the bedrock problems that have dogged women for centuries remain'.
this is an invasion

It seems like most people are missing the point of this study. It's rating the violence within a particular geographical/political region. Not the causes of the violence. So, because there is a war going on IN Iraq, it is more violent than the US, cause, guess what? There's not a war going on within the US.
This list is pretty meaningless IMO.
This, pretty much. A lot of it seems to be picked out completely arbitrarily.
