There seems to be a good bit of "revisionism" on the question of the Lumpen Proletariat...I thought this article might come in useful. While Red Action were not Marxist-Leninist they were very "on the ball".

So everything that doesn't come directly from Marx's mouth is 'revisionism' now?

He's only posting this here because he can't back up his points in the drugs thread.
Also, drug users go to work like members of the proletariat do. Even the article says something to this affect. Some junkies become lumpen perhaps mostly due to the illegality of drugs and workplace drug testing, which leads to chronic unemployment and recourse to crime. Some people go to work and commit crime on the side, what class are they? No one in the other thread was supporting dealers, although no one thinks that executing them in the streets is anything more than a useless temporary measure.
The article is not against what people were arguing about in the last thread, the legalization of drugs and/or the end on the war on drugs. Also, under socialism, drug distribution will not be handled by a dealer. Hell, even under capitalism, legalization of a drug leads to its regulation and it would be sold in dispensaries/etc. In fact, I heard some reports that many dealers are against legalization.

So drug addicts are lumpen - like Elvis and the young George W. Bush?
