Hello all,

The far right are in the midst of reforming in my opinion, as we are seeing swastikas being replaced by ultra nationalistic tendencies and nations flags being waved in the 'name of patriotism'

We are also seeing less of the conventional racism based on skin colour or country but instead it seems to be moving into somewhat different territory, in which they attack culture, religion or both. Is it racism? I believe so, although whether it is or not is irrelevant, it is in essence intolerant and regressive and therefore needs to be challenged.

On the back of Wilder's success in Holland, and the rise of the EDL in England I think we need to change our tactic. We are not being to fight these bastards if we call them Nazis, or fascists, we need to argue against them. There is a large amount of hostility over here towards Islam and when people bring up their concerns they need to be addressed and not shot down, or we will push people towards these people.

I think the vast majority of moderate Muslims in Europe need to be proactive in showing that the 'terrorist' image that so many seem to have is utter shite. I know they shouldn't have to, but I think more solidarity from all concerned and things as small as Islamic leaders coming out and condemning things such as Shariah would in fact pull large amounts of support from the EDL.

I don't know exactly how to deal with it, we seem to have pushed the BNP back, but how we deal with these people is much more tricky. Any thoughts would be welcome, and I think we need to get some of these views across to groups like UAF and what not as it will be a disaster of the far right ever get any political clout.

100% agree, these days with the highly vocal relgious extrememists and no real visable counter argument from the left, people are turning for their idea's and answers to the far right, i know good hard-working people my age, who see when they turn on the news fundamentalists, arguing for the destruction of their way of life and a return to frankly medieval way of life. They only people they see against that are the far right and can we really blame lost people who find an answer no matter how stupid that answer is (I speak from my own experience here as a former National socialist).

They're rising for the same reason Hitler and Mussolini did. They're called "reactionaries" for a reason. They're a reaction against the rise of a resistance against American domination of the world, regardless of where that resistance comes from. In the 1930s, when fascism was taking over Europe, Americans were struggling with rampant depression and a massive social and economic crisis. It took an attack on America for people to be scared enough to get behind whatever they thought was the best cover. That turned out to be FDR, who was pushing for a war with the Axis. Then the people were quick to agree with the Japanese internment and whatever else FDR wanted. Later, in the 1950s, the USSR emerged as a superpower contesting the US for world domination. All the ruling classes had to do was convince the American people that the left was coming to kill us all and Stalin was going to nuke us at any moment. That persisted as the ruling class' excuse for the next 50 years until the USSR collapsed. Ever since 1991, the ruling class has needed a new thing to replace the great boogeyman of communism. A whole bunch of "humanitarian" wars wasn't cutting it, but then they got something better. The fundamentalists we funded in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan were now running around with weapons from the two most powerful militaries ever created. Since they happened to be from the Middle East, it was only a matter of time before the far-right jumped on the opportunity to spread their racism and hysteria. Since the left was completely decimated by the Cold War, we couldn't form a resistance powerful enough to counter them. Now look where we are.
