This is hardly news, but I was wondering what people on RevLeft thought about it. Is the Fed telling the truth about the Weather Underground, or is he just trying to discredit communism by smearing the organization?

This might've been in the earlier stages of the Weather Underground. At that time, their plan was to bomb public buildings with people in it and they didn't care who lived or who died. This was in the Weather Underground documentary. So that might've been somewhat true. I can see them not knowing a plan for economics but the "Cuba, Russia, Chinese, North Korean 'occupation' of certain parts of the US" is a bit ridiculous. Overall, he's was a Fed during the 60's and 70's... I mean, you can't expect a truthful source when it comes to that.

That's sort of the impression I got as well. What the Fed talked about seemed more like something conjured up out of American fears about communism than anything any actual communist would advocate. If the Fed had some sort of evidence other than his word, it might be different, but as it is, I see no reason to take him particularly seriously. That won't stop the American public from taking him seriously, though.
