True, it's more like the atoms being reused. Particles could be said, perhaps. Molecules split and form new molecules in different configurations.
Or did you mean in a more poetic way and slightly less scientific? ;)
Also using the word reuse might sound weird, but I find it necessary in order to work with the line about weapons...
