The clip seems to indicate that whatever you do, you can blame the black guy. Apparently, it can be acquired for the low, low price of €95.95!

Very tasteless. I'd like to see the dutch entourage walking around cape town with those, they will get fucking shot.

€95,95!

Surely you mean €95.95?

And when these racist scumbags get the shit beat out of them, the media will take the opportunity to remind us of South Africa's "savagery" and "high crime rate."

In Europe, you use a comma, not a decimal point.

Yes, my bad. Silly Dutchism somehow managed to sneak in.

Anyway, I don't think many people will actually buy one of these things, never mind walk around in them in South Africa. But if someone does, I hope it (and the result) gets videotaped.

Afrikkaners are mostly of Dutch descent(the word "boer" is, I believe, Dutch for farmer) so there's a historical precedent here, surely?

You know the manufacturers will claim, ''Oh but its not racist, black people can use this too!''

I dunno, that would be racism of the "smart", calculated kind. This looks more like "dumb" casual racism that still exists in some circles. Especially in the province of Limburg where this thing was made, and where Geert Wilders received between 30% and 40% of the vote in almost every municipality. I don't think anyone will take this thing to South Africa, although I would definitely pay to see that.

No doubt, the 150 people who spent €95 on the thing are used to jokes at the expense of black people, but we won't be seeing many of them on the streets. Only 150 were ever made.

Since you asked:

The producers have refused to answer questions since the thing became controversial, but a month ago, they said: "This is a little negro that you can pull on, so that it looks like you're sitting in the little negro's neck. It's great fun, and I think this little negro is going to score."

The owner of a website selling the things said: "It has nothing to do with people, nothing to do with racism. If the World Cup had been in the Netherlands, it would probably have been a cheese farmer in clogs. If it had been in China, it would have been a Chinese gentlemen or lady with a little umbrella."

Personally, I found it quite amazing that both of them contrived to use racial slurs or stereotypes, especially considering that the latter was explicitly denying racism.
