Communist/Socialist: Where to go?

Well, as I'm fairly new here, hello, comrades!

I'm currently a communist/socialist, but certainly favour the qualities of other ideologies such as anarcho-communism and anarcho-socialism, but feel they might fail if put into practice. I'm only a year into my pursuit of communism, but I'd love to get some more information on the ideology despite having been this way for over a year now. Although I am not a member of any political party, I do favour (UK parties) the Communist Party of Great Britain, the Socialist Party and the Workers' Power. However, I'm fairly unsure of where to carry on with my political views: do I join a party? Do I attend group meetings?

Also, I live in a fairly racist area of the UK where nationalism is certainly high on the agenda with virtually all white British people verbally abuse those of Pakistani or Bangladeshi background: is there are certain way to help attack this non-violently? Are there groups I can appeal to?

Welcome, where abouts in the UK do you live?

The best way in my opinion to fight fascism would be to get involved with organisations that help prevent fascist and racist ideology, such as hope not hate, or unite against fascism, or more local groups.

In terms of practical levels, it is important to know your reasons for opposing these vile views and whenever you hear them brought up you need to be able to fight them and explain why they're wrong, ill-founded and racist (most people won't even realise they're being racist).

You must be brave, people will attack you sometimes, and you'll get a lot of abuse, but that's what happens when you stand up for your views. When racist groups like the EDL come nearby get out and express your view against them. And don't share a platform with racists and fascists, in other words I don't think we should ever let racist fascists ride on anything we do, and while I think its wrong to remove their freedom of speech you shouldn't give them publicity in my view.

And finally don't resort to violence, we will always win when we argue with words, when violence starts we could easily get beat, so I always fight my arguement with words, however there is nothing wrong with passive resistance to fascist racists, so if racists come into your city organise a group who try and block their route etc.

Just my thoughts, many on here will advocate violence to you but I wouldn't.

Socialism isn't really ideology , its more like a "road" , which Communist prefer as a direction after a successful proletarian revolution

what i believe you are questioning, is , do you believe in classless society or not ? or you cant find difference between single-class society and classless society ( im in same confusion , when there is only one class, then can we speak of society with "classes" ? )

Joining meetings is always a good idea. Ask critical questions on unclarities you might have, perhaps join in some activities, see how people treat you. That is usually a good way to tell how serious an organisation is.

There are several anti-racist campaigns in the UK. The CPGB, SP and WP are all involved in this too, be it with different stances. Like for example the CPGB doesn't think (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/worker2/index.php?action=viewarticle&article_id=1003747) the BNP is fascist or linked to the EDL (http://www.cpgb.org.uk/article.php?article_id=1003882), which is a controversial issue among the far left.

I don't know too much about this organisation, but they seem interesting, and if you're leaning towards anarchist-communism then perhaps the groups mentioned in your original post aren't all that relevant for you?

As I don't have time to reply to all of them, I'm going to chuck it all into one:

I'll try and find a group asap which I can join. One that's been catching my eye for a long time has been Communist Students, a group aimed at the younger generation.
