Dear comrades,

We would like, with this letter, to invite your organisation to take part at our Peace Camp. From the 1st until the 6th of july Comac, the Youth Movement of the Workers’ Party of Belgium, in collaboration with the Communist Youth Movement (CJB) of the Netherlands organises its annual Peace Camp. During this camp we gather members and sympathisers of our organisations. Last year, there were around 150 participants

All the people that come to the camp are divided in basegroups. Normally this is based on their field of work (university, high school or neighbourhood) and on the region. They work together as a group, sleep together in tents, share responsibilities during the camp.

To give you a clear view on what the camp actually is, I will explain what a normal day in the camp looks like and what the central theme is of the camp.

The days of the camp are all divided in the same way. In the morning we are woken up in a dynamic way around 8 AM. After a healthy breakfast we have workshops (as well practical as theoretical) from 10 AM till 12.30 AM. In the past we had workshops around neocolonisation in Africa, the Cuban revolution, Palestine, and so on. We also taught percussion, graffiti, … Then lunch is served. After this we have the challenge (which is a more sportive way of competition between the different groups). This takes from 3 PM untill 6 PM. After this we have dinner and around 8 PM a cultural activity or a festivity starts.

In the past we had as theme, travel through the world, where every day we discovered a continent or travel in time in which we went through the different stages of history (primitive society, slavery, feudalism, capitalism, socialism). This year the camp has as central theme the decades from the fifties until 2000. Every day a different decade will be addressed in a chronological way. In the different parts of the day everything is interconnected with the decade of the day. We will talk about these decades in a cultural way (music and such), but also in a political way. Cuba, Vietnam, may 68, the mine strikes, collapse of the Soviet Union, etc.

International delegations are warmly welcomed. You can of course take part in the entire program, but we would like also invite you to participate in workshops and to share with us your experiences of the struggle in your country and of your organisation.

We can offer a free stay for two delegates of your organisation. Due to financial restrictions we can’t pay for your transportation, nor can we pay for more then two delegates. If more people want to come they should pay the fee of 70 euros for the whole camp or 15 euros for one day.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Comradely yours
