What does my anarchist comrades think of the revolutionary icon Che Guevara?

From my point of view he was a romantic revolutionary and an inspiring idealist.

I cant find too many negative thoughts on him as an anarchist myself. Can you?

How about the fact that the cuban government purged anarcho-syndicalists from the CTC shortly after coming to power in 1959?

You should probably read Dolgoff's account of the Cuban revolution:

http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/anarchist_archives/bright/dolgoff/cubanrevolution/toc.html

And also Frank Fernandez's history of the Cuban anarchist movement:

A shorter version of the above which makes for quick reading can be found here:

Thank you zanthoras
I feel many anarchists feel a great nostalgia for Che which we must get out of, we spend to much time ith marxists who idolize him.

I just think it's hilarious how he's now the poster boy for the mass-marketing of "rebellion" by capitalism.

There are certainly positive aspects about him and his passion is quite admirable, but he still had some backwards and anti-communist ideals and is certainly not an individual any Communist should try to model themselves after.

I once argued on the net with some petite bourgeoise idiot who associated Che Guevara with anarchism instead of communism. Poor Che, what has marketing done to you.

Wait a sec, you're a Hoxhaist. You're supposed to be telling everyone how Che was a tool of soviet social imperialism :p

lol you're right, but I'm also from Latin America, so it's hard to not have some sort of admiration for him.

That, and back at middle school, me and my group of friends loved to shout his name, especially during PE.

As I know Che was probably more a maoist than a "kremlist", he once said that Khruschov was a revisionist and his strategy/tactics were maybe a bit inspired by the maoist protracted peoples´ war (but I am not sure).

Hoxha said that Che was a "left adventurist", http://www.marxistsfr.org/reference/archive/hoxha/works/1968/10/21.htm

P.S. I am not saying that Che was a maoist, but that he was more closer to maoism than to khruschovism-brezhnevism.
