Interesting article about popular resistance in China in the face of developers and officials.

Wasn't there some clown on this board recently who defended Dengist "socialism"?

"...There was a place in Henan province that planned to build an airport. They (the cadres) did not negotiate with the peasants beforehand, and forced them to move. The peasants say, even when you poke at a birdnest on a tree, the bird will chirp at you. Deng Xiaoping, you too have a nest of your own. If I smash your nest, will you not protest?

...So the local residents set up three lines of defense: the children, the women and the young men, and they drove out the people surveying the land. The peasants won.

Nowadays some people feel as if we have conquered all the land under heaven, and that we can do whatever we want. These kinds of cadres, the people will oppose them. They will resist with stones and sticks. I think that is appropriate; I welcome it. Sometimes, only fighting solves the problem. The Communist Party needs to be taught a lesson."
