What is revlefts opinion of Michael Moore.
Personally I think hes a socialist masquerading as a liberal. This was made obvious from his last film, Capitalism: A Love Story.
Although he doesn't outright advocate for socialism, in an interview with a democratic socialist he says that "maybe it's something we should try"
Also he says "Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot reform evil."
He wants to replace it with what he calls "democracy". In other words, socialism.
What do you guys/gals think?

I think Moore can be fairly described as a left wing populist social critic who couches his criticism in equal parts of comedic satire and seriousness, so far a very effective blend for getting his message across.

Yeah I think Left-wing populist is probably the best way to describe him. His real focus on working class issues and the realities of the real US working class (you know urban as well as rural, female and non-white as well as male and white) as opposed to the fake "real hard-working (white) Americans" that are a myth of the media and conservatives. When he interviews some family, it's like - hey I grew up with these people or these people look like the families I see at the mall. When I see the FOX news "real Americans" on the other hand I think, "hey that white guy with the shaved head, Oakley sunglasses, and gotee looks like the shady contractor my landlord hired to boss around a bunch of migrant day-laborers while he listened to Rush Limbaugh on his truck's stereo.
But I digress. I think the other thing about Moore and his ideology is mixed and that it is also in flux. Since he seems to be sincerely devoted to issues facing US workers, but does not have a solid ideology around class and the class struggle, he tends to float around politically and can be really good in one instance but then support the Democrats or tacit xenophobia the next.
If there was a strong and vibrant working class movement, I have no doubt he would swing more decisively to the left and could even be won to socialism. In the absense of that he does a pretty good job but will probably continue to be inconstant and swayed by the ups and downs of general political consciousness in our society.
