I was wondering if anyone here plays EVE Online and wondered what you think of the game. I was thinking of playing as I have a good friend who plays it and a large corp of people from my city playing. I like a lot of the concepts, but I want to hear some feedback from some Leftists on a game with a large Market economic focus.

it's designed to make you waste money like any other game. for example you have to wait several months to learn certain skills. it literally will take you 1-2 years before you can compete with the old school players. if you want a cut-throat mmo where you can murder players and take their stuff, but doesn't cost any money, play ultima online on a free server, or play fallout online (free game, fallout 2 turned into an mmorpg by russian hackers)

Yeah. It's not even like if you play a lot, you get better stuff. It's if you wait longer. It's stupid.

Oh and guess what? No skill caps. People who have been keeping up with their training will always be better than you if they started the game before you. Hurf durf.

It's a shame, though. I was expecting something like Freelancer except online.

Have you noticed how almost all MMO's are RPG's?

well that's because RPG's take a good long time to get fun, it takes ages to get to the kill kickass stage in a real RPG, and that's why making a pay game an RPG means players need to play it longer for it to be fun, meaning the corporations that make it get more money

so, you see, yes, it is because of capitalism that most MMO's are RPG's.

In the future Communist society, MMO's with be of higher caliber and don't necessarily have to be RPG's.

Hmmm, I see. I would be wasting a lot of money on a stupid monthly sub.. normally I play all my games for free, but if I join an mmo I would be forced to play money. I guess I won't bother then. I could put that money towards a better use.

My only experience with the game is that my cousin helped organize a fleet back in 2003 against the infamous M0o Corporation siege.

I bought an account just to take part of it.
