Another dead rock star to add to this years list. The Slipknot bass player was found dead in an Iowa hotel room this morning. Cause of death is currently unknown. He was 38 years old.

RIP

Wow. Way to be an ass. A completely useless post if I ever saw one. It's fine if your not a fan, but God Damn, a man is dead. At least show respect by keeping it to yourself. This is a thread for fans to pay respect. That shit is uncalled for.

Fuck you. Fuck you hard.

Shit that's pretty crazy. I was never a huge Slipknot fan, but this guy was a founding member, if I remember correctly.

Yep.

I'm not exactly a huge fan anymore either (their newer stuff just doesn't do it for me like their older material)... but I grew up on these guys, and Paul was always my favorite member, so this one was quite a shock.

I was a huge Slipknot fan back in the day when they released their s/t, 'Surfacing' was an awesome tune. I haven't heard anything of theirs since 'Iowa', these days I have expanded my horizons and will listen to pretty much any kind of music but I still enjoy both of these albums occasionally, good music for car journeys and also just for when you're fucking pissed off. I actually met Paul and that one guy with the gas mask at a concert in Birmingham, I was only about 15 and was pretty starstruck but they seemed like real nice dudes. A shame, really, I figured he would have been older than 38 by now but I guess a lot of rockstars die young. Ah well, RIP, off to listen to 'People = Shit' now.

Even though I hate Slipknot, I feel sorry for them. It sucks to loose someone.

Fuck you, you piece of shit. People worthy of real respect die every day and all you can feel sorry for is some useless celebrity dick, it's if anything disrespectful to all the true terrible things that happen every day, degrading.

This kind of threads are damn stupid to begin with. As soon as some celebrity dies suddenly tons of people just crawl out of the woodwork to plead their love for some cretin, just like with Michael Jackson and countless other hacks in the past, and suddenly it's like some damn contest for who was the best fan by saying how terribly sorry they are.

You know what, I don't think you're sorry in the least.

A great loss to us bass players. He was one of the tightest metal bassists around.
RIP Dude you will be missed.

Listen Fred Phelps... Paul Gray influenced me to start playing music. That's why it matters TO ME. So fuck you, you worthless human being. If you don't like the man, then don't comment. It's that simple, and it's called respect, something you clearly lack. I didn't see you saying this shit in the DIO thread, or the Peter Steele thread... so what do you have against this guy exactly?

Yeah, people die everyday. But if they're a member of a band that you like or used to like, you're going to be more interested in that. It's not discounting the deaths of everyone else, or saying "Fuck the rest of y'all dead peeps! THIS guy is the shit!!"

What is the nonsense that only positive things are to be allowed? Why is it when some douchebag dies, only praises are to be allowed, nothing else? And why are you so warped personally that it bothers you so much I feel no personal loss for a celebrity hack, something psychological? I have no arbitrary respect for some random musician I find to be capable of producing only rubbish; I feel no more loss when it comes to Dio or Peter Steele, but this thread comes really short after that awful Dio thread so, some perspective needed to be brought to this thread to avoid it turning into one of those dreadful "Oh I am so sorry and this is awful"-circle-jerks of dishonesty.

I think people in this kind of situation simply reply that they are sorry, bothered, that they think it is sad, because it is expected of them; and this kind of post-death circle-jerk can blow up the works of the dead person something absurd (just like everyone saying Michael Jackson was the most talented and enjoyable person ever after his death).
