Do they exist?

People often talk about SOAS like it is this hub of communist agitation, but from my (limited) experience it seemed to be full of liberals hot on identity politics and international development. One lecturer spoke of many students going in to the IMF, World Bank, or civil service, and you can read into that what you want.

I suppose the above is true for most universities or colleges that are supposedly left wing and radical - liberalism is about as radical as it gets.

Are there any especially right wing universities?

I've heard American University in DC and Boston College are "right wing," but as I've neither attended nor visited either I cannot speak for anything more than the word of mouth I have heard.

If I had to hazard a guess it may just be that particular regions pull in professors of particular political demographics (I've heard Amherst College and UMass Amherst are both farther left, and that coincides with the Amherst area pretty well). I don't know that there are any schools where you'll feel a monstrous bias, but I could be completely wrong.

It's not necessarily that I want to know of the existance of such places (I would not be deciding if I wished to study somewhere based on where it falls on some speculative political spectrum), but rather I want to rubbish the notion that they actually exist.

lol, that sounded dry.

Different schools have different political makeups for all sorts of reasons - class makeup of the school, region, and even reputation, as people are drawn to schools where they think people will share their culture/political views.

That said, yes, most "campus activism" is pretty fucking awful, full of liberals and so on. But you shouldn't even write all of them off, and most places you will go will have lots of radicals too (campus radicals have their own issues, but that's a whole other story).

Bob Jones University is right wing. They still enforced segregation in personal business up until at least 2000 and people could not have interracial relationships. This right wing trash can has given us dumb ass right wingers like Billy Graham, Ronald Regan, Strom Thurmand, Herbert Hoover, and segregationist George Wallace.

This school didn't even fully desegregate until 1975 and even then just talking about an interracial relationship was grounds for expulsion.

They gave an honorary doctorate to Ian Paisley back in 1966 too.

From my personal experience, Auckland University's Sociology department is very far left and the History department is a close 2nd.
