Recently, what is happened in Thailand is certainly a mass uprising. IN MY OPINION, IN A MUCH MORE BIGGER SCALE THAN EAST EUROPEAN "FALL OF COMMUNISM". But, what we have also observed is GOLDEN SILENCE by all world media. In my country, there is no or very very little reflection of the incidents of Thailand. I am pretty sure that if 1/100th of such incidents would occur in China (I am not a supporter of Chinese capitalism) or any other country hated by media like Cuba, Venezuela; there would be a frenzy of reporting. Our world protectors of democracy, human and civil rights like USA and EU are also just kept (Golden) silent about the incidents. I clearly want to say that in future we have to be very cautious about referring to media reports. Why? This is an example.
What also irritates me when some "Left of left Communists(!)", "armchair revolutionaries" are always at their toes to "condemn" revolutionary parties, who are actually engaged in struggle for "killing of innocent civilians", "massacres of innocent" kind of rubbish based on reports from the imperialist backed media. I am sure that if they aren't Gobbets, then they are certainly "wolves in sheep's skin". We must be cautious.

Good point! Has Andrew Sullivan changed his blog red for the Thais like he did green for the Iranians? *checks* Nope. And no mentions of it on his front page either. The Mrs. Sullivan test is conclusive: US chattering class does not care.

Then you are completly lost boyo. I have seen quite abit of reporting in the swedish and dutch media, of course lacking much background explanation. And really, I don't mean to sound harsh but thailand historically has a coup every other year. That was how the current regime got into power. Thaksin and his party are no better, the bravery of some of the redshirts notwithstanding. Does this open up for a radicalization? Maybe, but just street fighting in itself builds no consciousness capable of taking the struggle further. Possibly the end result will be neither the yellows nor the reds winning with the military seizing power. Again.

The question is whether Thaksin is better or not, but rather indifference from the imperialist controlled media. Just imagine, if 10% of such incidents would happen in Venezuela, Cuba etc, the world media now would be overflooded with the news and photographs of "communist attorney". The incidents of "fall of communism in East Europe" has been done with much less popular participation. Just imagine, what would be the media response, if 10% of such incidents like Thailand would occur there.
My point is the "media hypocrisy", not the character analysis of the parties involved in Thailand. Whatever may be the character of Thaksin, it's very much clear that huge mass of poor peasants and workers are the major force behind the "red shirts". Thaksin's hypocrisy can not nullify the atrocities of present Thai regime over them and also the "world media indifference" too.

Media here is more or less blatantly in favour of the redshirts and almost all reports have been on their "struggle". All criticisms have revolved around the monarchist factions exploits.

I just don't understand which media you are mentioning. At least the media of my country is totally indifferent to the situation in Thailand.
