They get uncomfortable because they don't know what they're talking about (and they know it). They have followed a little trail of an ideology to the point where it satisfies a shallow preconceived bias (racism, class ego, etc).

People get mad and upset because they either are put on the spot and are one of those people described above or because they genuinely care about the issues they're dealing with and are sick of being presented with false arguments, facts etc..


It isn't a game to see who can argue the best over an $80 latte- there are real issues, affecting millions of people and the entirety of our global ecosystem.

Even worse than false arguments and facts, are true facts that then used to prop up false arguments. Ran into one recently - mothers on welfare have more children than mothers not on welfare, therefore take welfare away to reduce the population.

Fucking stupid of course, poor mothers who have had few opportunities to make a better life have more children than rich mothers who have had more opportunities, so give every mother more opportunities and greater material security to reduce the population.

Not that the population needs reducing anyway, but it's a demonstration of how something relatively simple (the general correlation between poverty and family size) can be turned into a viciously anti-humanist bit of right-wing populism. Makes me spit blood sometimes.

I get pissed off at closet racists, sexists, homophobes and anti-disabled bigots who, as self-professed revolutionaries, talk like they are of, by and for the revolution, when they couldn't be further removed from the movement. I suppose "on-line revolutionaries" are no different than the "arm chair revolutionaries" of old. They don't know shit, and worse yet, that's about all they have to offer -- shit.
