What are some good books on socialist political economy?

I would recommend the ABC's of political economy by Robin Hahnel. The reason is is that it is fairly understandable for a lay person and is based on pretty recent economic theory and Karl Marx and company. Also it tackles questions like contemporary globalization that a lot of the classics can't touch on.

it is also reasonably priced unlike stuff written for the university libraries.
