View Full Version : Progressive Labor Party

If any of you remember my earlier posts, I have been engrossed in a sort of struggle with myself to determine which party to align myself with.

After much delegation, and contemplation, it seems like the Progressive Labor Party seems to quite snugly fit the bill of what I think is necessary to get anywhere:

They actively try to teach and recruit. They decline the need for a socialist inter-stage. They repudiate the Theory of Productive forces. They refuse the need for a vanguard party, instead aiming for the real existence of 'whole-class party membership'.

I do have some issues with them, though.

I don't outright think that the Theory of Productive Forces is wrong. I do think that there has to be a certain level of technology and weaponry available to the populace before they can successfully overthrow the top-level fascist-capitalists. I don't see it as necessary for a revolution, but I do think that Communism would benefit from it.

I do not think that their policy of aggressive anti-racism is terribly necessary, and it may even be detrimental to their success, considering that removing theorists from the equation could lead to easy manipulation and such. I do not live in poverty, or anything near it, but I am frequently indignant at the flaws of capitalist society, and I think that PL's tendencies to ignore people like me represent a great flaw in their system.

While I do not agree with everything Stalin did, I cannot help but admit that he did boost the USSR into the modern age, and the USSR's influence was shown in the US's intensive and aggressive propaganda against Communism. I also do not agree that a true socialist, progressing into Communist, nation would have had a zero-doubt ruler like Stalin. I think realistically a Communism would have a group of people ruling, who are cycled at regular intervals with various restrictions to prevent elitism, sort of what like ancient Athens did. Maybe not the random allotment of positions, but something along those lines.

PL seems to adhere rather well to my ideal of Communism, but is there a contention in this forum that PL is full of it? I put a great amount of trust and reliance in this forum. I consider that there are conflicting and contrasting Communist implementations and ideologies here, so I think it's a good ground to foster ideas, and thus I believe the general populous here more than a Wikpedia article.

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't seem to be very active nowadays.

Of that I wouldn't know, I have just been looking into what's established online and in plain text. Once I decide which party's ideology I'm most closely aligned with, then I'll work on finding an active one.
