Anyway, on the topic, I'm not sure anymore who my favorite user on here is. It used to be 'Random Precision', but he left last year.
Gravedigger/Jimmie Higgins does a really good job in the Learning forum (and sometimes OI) patiently explaining things to new users in very clear language and in a very accessible way in general, which is really important and I imagine very helpful, so he def deserves a mention.
Other than that, I don't know; I don't really have a favorite.

If we don't include people that I know, like Leo or Nic because my favourite 'internet persona' is obviously different from my favourite person, I would go for somebody like Wanted Man. He has completly different political ideas to me, in fact ones that I really don't like. Despite this he seems to come across to me as a reasonable person, whose views are worth reading, and informed. He also has other interests, one of which football I share and he talks about with passion in an interesting way, in addition to which unlike many people on here, he is a member of a political organisation, which I sort of approve of in itself. I can imagine he would be a pleasant person to have a beer with, and I would take the time to look him up if I was in Holland.

Other people I like who don't share my political ideas are Comrade Alistair, and the user who has just changed her name to 9.

To be honest, I like the NZ M-Ls specifically you seem to be pretty reasonable person. They're like, neither Stalinist nor Trotskyist and thus don't get into that BS division nor the whole "trotsly was awesome" "stalin was awesome" cheer leading and fights.. Right now a thread in discrimination might turn into a shit-fest with some of the anti-imperialist bloc saying that homophobic groups are "progressive."

I understand that anti-imperialism is seen as progressive but we shouldn't kid ourselves into thinking that all anti-imperialist movements are ideal and that all are genuinely progressive.

I actually think that most of the best posters here come from the republican camp. Andropov, PRC-UTE, Hoggy RS, all fiercely loyal to their views and the cause, yet still reasonable.

I like Scary Monster, because he seems relatively undogmatic and always willing to learn. He had not staked out a 'camp', it seems. Also, Jimi Hendrix is awesome.

I also appreciate the contributions of Captain Cuba, Coolers Reds Will Prevail, Robocommie, Kleber, scarletghoul, PT Cruz, Uppercut, RadioRaheem84, Devrim, and S Artesian. Some of these people I am frequently in agreement, others I am more prone to have fierce disagreements with, but all these posters are well-informed and clearly know what their talking about, and are passionate about the cause of socialism, which at the end of the day is what counts. I particularly like Captain Cuba's sense of humor and combativeness('Fuck yeah! Michael Parenti ftw!'). S Artesian can be quite sarcastic, which I like, as well as PT Cruz. Kleber's knowledge of history and politics, particularly of the Soviet Union, is fucking encyclopedic, even for someone like me who considers myself better informed then most on the topic.

Really, the only two users I really fucking hate are Whichdoctor and Prairie Fire. One is an obscurantist dissembler and liar who hides his soft spot for cluster bombs incinerating Afghan peasants behind postmodernist academese, the other is honest about her beliefs and argues passionately for them, except her beliefs are the most utterly horrifying bunch of ultra-Stalinist bile one can imagine. Her main method of argument largely consists of labeling anyone who objects to killing fields and gulags as a 'liberal' or something along those lines. I mean, really, 'Lady Pol Pot'?

Raul Duke- Thanks for the "maybe".

Jacob Ritcher- Has never baited me as a 'Stalinist', and has always kept things political and proffesional in his dealings with me. I think he has a better grasp of economics than me.

Alastair- We spar on the Nepal issue (as we should), but generally he takes revolutionary standpoints.

Ismail and Winter- Representing for APL. Ismail always calls me in for back up, and sometimes he is the only back up that I have on various threads.

Sam B- The persyn that everyone seems to characterize as humourless and generally unpleasant (which used to be me). Takes decent stances on issues, keeps things political, has never Trolled me for my "stalinism".

Communist usa- Nice comrade, re-posts decent articles.

Jazzrat, Bilan- Have been here since I got here, which is noteworthy as several of the familiar names have packed up and left/ been banned. Have had good Chit chat on occasion with both.

Of course the comrades who mentioned my username are among my favorites as well. Bandito is a great comrade and I work very well with him on the board. DeclinedDoomed is a seriously solid contributor. And, Prairie Fire, what can be said about her other than she never fails to write brilliant posts. I can't even imagine anyone disagreeing with that statement.

These and the following members impress me through good posting, being good people and, in some cases, making me laugh consistently. 9 is great with coming up with tight arguments as well as seemingly obvious points that make me wonder why noone else (including myself) ever comes up with them but her, and her posts are sometimes very funny as well. cyu is a very concise and on point contributor who has never, to my knowledge, spammed or trolled in five years or something on the board. nikita may have a somewhat irritable posting style that annoys some people but he does know his shit and is a tireless moderator. kassad does solid posting as long as it's not concerning his party, then he goes completely off the rails :lol:. Red Dave is a good guy who's been in the movement for almost five decades and has seen and done a lot, and that earns nothing but respect from me and I believe from all of us. Comrade Alastair, the coverage this comrade provides on Nepal is extremely useful. Jimmie Higgins, well, top-notch all the way. I'll return the favour and go for Die Neue Zeit because his whole perspective on Kautsky is incredibly interesting and I'd never considered the Lenin-Kautsky connection as something positive before. It also helped me get over my fear of vanguard parties. Embarrasingly I can't think of anything especially noteworthy about Q apart from in one of the recent threads on What is to be Done? he linked to some great articles by Lars Lih which I'd never read before on the Lenin-Kautsky connection.

Also BAM for his insights into the Marx-Hegel connection in the "Is Dialectical Materialism a Religion?" thread and general knowledge of Marx's thought. ZeroNowhere for being similarly knowledgable. Kléber also comes to mind for introducing me to Lenin's writings on state-capitalism. Ismail also provided me with some interesting material on Stalin's russia and the purges so he gets a mention despite being a Stalinist.

I also tend to associate Majakovskij with these folks too, even though that's not quite accurate. Nevertheless, he's one of my favourite RevLeft members as well.

Other favourites are Miles, mainly because of his spot-on political writings, particularly on the nature of fascism and relating to today's far right in the US. Very well-thought positions. On the less political side, have you read some of the recipes he's posted in the Cooking group? They sound so good. Kassad makes very good arguments, and I think has toned down a little bit in his promotion of the PSL. Then again, he's running for office this year, so maybe has less time to waste spend on RevLeft. Also, Kassad is a fan of Transmetropolitan, and I've gotta like anyone who likes Transmet.

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.
