So, its 648 in the AM here, and ive smokes myself stupid listening to lil wayne's song Drop The World

I got ice in my veins, blood in my eyes
Hate in my heart, love in my mind
I seen nights full of pain, days of the same
You keep the sunshine, save me the rain
I search but never find, hurt but never cry
I work and forever try, but I’m cursed, so never mind
And it’s worse, but better times seem further and beyond
The top gets higher the more that I climb
The spot gets smaller, and I get bigger
Tryna get into where I fit in, no room for a n*gga
But soon for a n*gga it be on, mu’f*cka
‘Cause all the bullshit, it made me strong, mu’f*cka

So I pick the world up and I’ma drop it on your f*ckin’ head
*****, I’ma pick the world up and I’ma drop it on your f*ckin’ head
And I could die now, Rebirth motherf*cker
Hop up in my spaceship and leave Earth, motherf*cker
I’m gone
Motherf*cker, I’m gone

I know what they don’t wanna tell you
Just hope you’re heaven-sent, and you’re hell-proof
I-I walk up in the world and cut the lights off
And confidence is the stain they can’t wipe off
Huh, my word is my pride
But wisdom is bleak, and that’s a word from the wise
Served to survive, murdered and bribed
And when it got too heavy I put my burdens aside

So I could pick the world up and I’ma drop it on your f*ckin’ head
*****, I’ma pick the world up and I’ma drop it on your f*ckin’ head
And I could die now, Rebirth motherf*cker
Hop up in my spaceship and leave Earth, motherf*cker
I’m gone
Motherf*cker, I’m gone (I’m gone)

Part of it sound revolutionary, maybe a bit ego centric. What are your thoughts on the song?

Yeah, in the context of the song, where hes talking about the spot getting smaller and stuff, is a pretty Emo line, though it can be applied to the struggle. It makes me wonder if, here in the states all these tea parties keep getting worse (which they will) maybe after they have their big "revolution" as all the old cold war era warhorses die (gingrich, mccain, etc) The effect they will have fade, whilst the actual socialists are getting madder and madder, and it will make everything that much swifter when it comes. Maybe its meant to be. Maybe its just the weed. :D

Great song/poetry. The lyrics are obviously vague and open to interpretation, but contain an undeniable discontent and will to fight. This could be revolutionary sentiment (earlier today actually someone said to me some line seems maoistish to them) or it could be 'emo' (a label overused in a way that disgusts me tbh; all art and music is emotional, just some douches dismiss as 'emo' anything that expresses emotional discomfort)...

I never really thought there was any question that it was about both an emotional distress with ones situation in the world and the resolve to struggle to change that world/situation. You pricks can call that 'emo', but to be honest any sincere revolutionary is an 'emo'.....

this song's about revolutionary suicide.

Around 2:39 a tv falls down and I think you can see a hammer and sickle.

This is probably one of the most revolutionary songs from a not so political band. It is also wonderful. Saviour and Legion are also brilliant.

"Pick the world up and drop it on your fucking head" sounds a bit like the Red Guard slogans on "turning the world upside down" etc

Lil wayne makes references to being the Hip hop socialist (lol) and hes worn the hammer and sickle on a shirt. I thought it was mostly bullshit until i heard him talking in one of his underground tapes i have. im trying to find it again.
