Hello everyone I am new around here and I'd just like to say hi. I am an anarchist. I am anti capitalist and anti imperialist. I was a conservative Republican for a long time if you can believe that. I have transformed my mind after years of seeing injustice, double standards, elitism, and poverty. I have friends that are lawyers, engineers, and other successful people that hate me now. They say my mind has been polluted, I say my mind has been freed. I talk politics a lot.

It's actually kind of a stroke of luck I found this place. I never thought I'd see so many people that think like me nor did I think it would be this organized. I was looking for a torrent for the movie "Che" with Benicio del Torro. I found the torrent and I found this site called "Che Lives" or something like that. This forum was attached to the site. Lucky me!

FYI, I was born and raised in TX. I still live in Texas and as you can imagine I am in the belly of the beast.

I live in Tex-ass too!

I'm a transient, though...not originally from the state. :(

I also live in Texas, though I live in the Southernmost tip, meaning it's nothing at all like the North and East so popularly associated with this state (think King of the Hill or Walker Texas Ranger). Down here, Hispanics are the vast majority, meaning that while it's statistically an immensely poor area (the poorest in the nation, in fact), it's a "blue" area in a so-called "red" state, which translates into much more progressive attitudes regarding economic inequality and other injustices, making it rather easy to find people who identify positively with socialist ideas.

Where do you live in Texas, OP? I'm curious how different attitudes are in different places around the state.

I live in the San Antonio area right now but I have been all over the state. The most intolerant area I've seen first hand is northern Texas in the DFW Metroplex and Houston to a certain degree. The most progressive part of the state by far is Austin though. It is far more left wing than even the border.

San Antonio is a mixed bag. Though it tends to lean left ,the moronic conservatives are a lot of times much more vocal and active. 9/11 truthers, Tea baggers, National Socialists, Republicans and a host of other misguided groups are active in and around the SA-Austin I-35 corridor. Alex Jones, the supposed "Patriot Movement" champion is based out of Austin. But he and his kind are in the small minority.

I live in Austin. I've been trying to meet some other leftists here.

Well you found me at least. I'm a stone throw away. I don't know of any leftists personally in Austin but I know a handful here. They are not active though. I have never been active before. I want to be now but I know that can take some time in getting to know me and in trusting me and in me getting to know and trust all of you.

I've been to San Antonio a bunch, but have never really explored it that much...I should go down there sometime.

There are a bunch of cool folks on this board, though...I can testify to that, cuz I've met a good number of them personally.

¿Que?

I too am from Texas. Used to live in Austin, now somewhere in the SA-Austin I-35 corridor, but I'd rather not post where (if interested PM me).

In terms of getting active, there is shit-tons going on with immigrant rights groups in Austin (don't know much about SA though, but probably similar).

There used to be an antifa group (ARA) out of San Marcos, but I tried emailing them and it got bounced back. So I'm guessing they're not that active anymore, or they changed their email or something.

Also, keep an eye on UTSA. There's probably shit going on over there, too. I know a lot of stuff happens out of UT-Austin.

If anything, drive up to Austin and hang around Monkey Wrench Books. It's pretty leftists from what I hear, although I personally have never been. But they host events and such, good places to meet active leftists.

Sorry for all the Austin info, I don't know much about SA, unfortunately.
