a little ahead of it's time.

Was shocked to hear this, heard it first from Tom Morello, then Morello said 'Oh, apparently he isn't dead', so I was pretty fricking confused. Turns out there was a hoax yesterday that he had died, and then today he actually did die. Strange shit.
Still, it was to be expected sooner or later. Cancer is a bastard, it would have been a miracle if he had recovered.

I was supposed to be seeing Dio this summer actually. RIP anyway, he shall remain a legend among metal-heads. I think there's already a petition under way to have the Golden Gods vocalist award (or some such award) renamed the Ronnie James Dio award.
