Yeah, the horror stories are largely true. However, as I understand it, it was largely caused by, hilariously, Paradox putting too must faith in the fan-base which they were using as free beta testers.

But yeah, I don't tend to have a lot of cash burning holes in my pockets, so I usually test drive software first, anyhow.

Funny that Paradox really are evil capitalists in the most true fashion, hiring people who pay to play their games - yet they are loved by their fan-base. :D

Haha, they're not THAT bad. I think their tendency to incorporate the ideas and work of the fan base is one of the cooler things about them. Besides, I love their games.

As far as gaming companies go, however, EA Games has a pretty vicious reputation, forcing their employees to work unpaid overtime and extra shifts, and screwing them over in general.
