Facebook has downplayed worries on privacy issues. Should Facebook rethink its privacy rules?

I have deactivated mine, but the trouble is that the profile is never really gone. It's only temporarily removed until you deactivate it again by simply logging on.
Privacy is dead in this day and age.

I'm not too read up on how lack of privacy is detrimental. If someone could enlighten us, that'd be cool.
At the same time, almost all our info is being traded and sold amongst advertisers anyway (even if you don't have facebook), so I'm not sure how worth it it would be to get worked up over privacy or lack thereof. I also don't really see the huge deal about having corporations selling credit card client info or whatever so long as it's not turned into some sort of Alex Jones/David Icke-worthy conspiracy

Some applications now require email access (I can't play wierd games anymore without them sending me spam), which is mainly annoying rather than harmful. Personally I don't care who can see what school I go to or what facebook quiz is the flavour du jour, but I have heard about friends of friends' photographs being used for commercial purposes (advertisements/billboards) without their "permissions" (because to use facebook you have to agree that any pictures you put up belong to facebook in the end).

Maybe I'm just not thinking about this enough, but I don't see the huge deal about using your photo... I mean it'd be nice to get your permission since they're making money off your image, but should leftists even care about that? It seems really bougie to be like "Hey!!! You're making $$$ off of MY FACE! Gimme a cut!!! BIDNESSSSSS!!!!!"

Well I think its just another cog in the exploitation wheel, because the company didn't really do anything to deserve this extra money, and the "worker" (in this case the people in the photograph) again gets gypped out of their fair share.
Also it would be kinda creepy driving along and seeing one of your facebook photographs on a billboard as an ad for the newest type of shoes

I hate how they blatantly do not give a fuck about our privacy. I also hate how you can never truly delete your profile. The lack of privacy is disgusting, and the fact that they blatantly disregard it pisses me off even more.

During a White Terror, the state has many other means than fb than getting info about me.
