The following is by somebody calling himself 'jmsnooks' directed at me on Youtube. I was posting a few comments, and then he threw this massive pile of garbage at me:

In the USSR people had no freedom of thought, speech, religion, or expression. Their manufactored goods were pitiful, many of them were killed for supposedly disagreeing with the government, their technological level was pitiful, and no one was allowed to travel because if they could get out they stayed out. Also all of the people there were poor except for the ruling elites. I mean, if you are upset by a disparity in wealth, poverty, and control you the USSR is a great example.

History isn't over, and I don't believe in the Marxist view of it anyways. It's not the job of government to furnish people with anything, it's up to people to furnish themselves. All of the world's wealthiest countries are capitalist while the poorest ones have command economies. Most countries in Africa are fascist with varying degrees of command economies. Military dictatorship is not capitalism. So you want to fix Africa? Where are you going to get the experts and the finances to pay them? Also do you think they're going to work for the same rate as a basket pusher or assembly line factor worker? Heck no, not unless you force them, and then they aren't going to do their best job because there's no opportunity for advancement, they're just going to do the bare minimum they can get by with, which is why goods produced in communist countries are so pitiful. Congo is a communist country and it's just as backwards as the rest.

The problem with Africa is that it's still not completely civilized. It was mostly tribal for the longest time, but with the influx of foreign production they started having more kids than they could keep up with. The only way to fix Africa is with education, not with totalitarianism, they have more than enough totalitarianism already. Some people get more but a whole lot of people have everything taken away from them, and everyone is permanently locked into a position with a fixed payrate. Define "working people." Everyone who works is a working person, just people who work in factories. My needs are met just fine under the current system. Even the poor people in the US are wealthy compared with the average person in North Korea, or Africa. If you're so concerned about helping the 3rd world then you should go there and do some charity work giving of your own time and money, instead of trying to set up a system where my money is given away.

It really helps to be anti-Soviet sometimes :)

And that shit about Africa, why don't you explain to them that the shittiness of Africa and Asia today is the direct result of European imperialism and colonialism in the pursuit of capital.

You mean it really helps the bourgeoisie to be anti-Soviet.

As for Africa, thats a good point to make. This guy is obviously racist, as is evidenced by his claim that Africa is "not fully civilized".
Never mind that every progressive and revolutionary leader in Africa has been overthrown, killed, or their country bled to death by capitalist proxy war or sanctions since the 1950's, whether your talking about Lumumba, Sankara, Samora Machel and Augustino Neto. Never mind the direct role that US and European neo-colonialism are STILL playing the impoverishment of Africa. This idiot, does he know that the cell-phone that he uses is made from metals mined by slave-labor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where US corporations like Citigroup are funding a war there that has cost over 5 million lives? Does he know that it came out in a recent report that France played a direct role in the Rwandan genocide, to protect its mining interests?
What an idiot.

Ignore him. I know it can be really really hard but this guy is a simple minded, racist moron. Like Barry Lyndon says, the comment about Africa not being "civilized" is a dead give-away that he's a cretin.

Well, that and the fact that he's guilty of ASTONISHING generalizations and makes statements with all the political and historical nuance and sophistication of a sledge hammer. He's an idiot. If you really want to try and take it upon yourself to school him, I salute you, but you're going to have to teach him history first, and Youtube is a bad place for big conversations because the text window doesn't give you much space.

Edit: I just want to add that every single time I see some reactionary douchebag make a comment to the effect of "if you want to help poor people fine, just don't take MY money to do it!" it makes me want to put them down on a list of people who, come the Revolution, will be sure to lose everything.

Also, does he know how much worse off the average Russian is since the USSR collapsed? Or the average Chinese person is since the Dengist 'free-market' reforms of the last 30 years? Or how Havana has a lower infant mortality rate then Washington D.C., in spite of a 50-year blockade? Or the fact that the only part of India that has nearly universal literacy and has abolished the caste system is Kerala, a province that has been dominated by communists for over 40 years?

This is too easy.

Nice avatar, btw. HO HO HO CHI MINH the NLF is gonna win!
