View Full Version : What can we do to help?

Right! Lets see if we can get something constructive happening right now.
Have our comrades in Greece asked for any help from abroad in any shape or form? Has anyone asked them what they want from us internationally? What can we feasibly offer the Greek people to help them?
Currently, I'm doing my best to talk to people and give them the other side of the story that the mainstream media isnt. Also used it as an opportunity to show that these same kinds of cuts may be imposed closer to home and if we do not resist them as the Greeks have resisted thiers, we'll not only be letting ourselves down, but our fellow workers in Greece. Other than that I'm pretty stumped.
I don't have a passport or I might have taken a few weeks off work and found some way to get over there with a camera. Nothing like the threat of an international incident to loosen the cops' itchy trigger fingers. I don't have cash either, but I can't see how that'd help with anything either tbh.
I think it's time we considered what we can do though.
organise solidarity demo's/pickets/actions etc etc at your local embasy/consulate/greek travelagency etc etc?
or you always burn down your local bank in solidarity offcourse (joke!)

Just solidarity i guess... spread the word about the IMF and help other countries resist.
last time (the december riots) we did some solidarity demo's and actions over here and that was very apriciated, they where posted on the greek indymedia and because we in holland have actualy a lot of unorganised but politiced greek students some form of an new network started to take form.
sadly i think it sank away again together with the unrest quiting down.

Aha, thanks for this Hannah. Don't let it go! I'll work it out. I'll as much as I can. I'll talk to people it would be great if something could happen so that we provoke international or special solidarity effects. Well, we generally just can share solidarity and do solidarity actions, but not anything special up to my head in the moment. Hwever, I'll make efforts. Please, if we can, we may do something very sentimentally "moving" for the world.

I was considering two thoughts:
1) wearing red and/or black armbands (or something similar). Shows solidarity, and easily start a conversation with someone and you can tell them about the situation and our cause. People are curious beings, so here's your opportunity to talk about it, right?
2) I am not that financially secure, but it's tempting to maybe at least try and send a set percentage of my paycheck to those who need it over there.
Thoughts and ideas on either? If anyone can help me with the 2nd (people, address, anything) that would be appreciated.

At present, in my opinion, what is necessary is a common platform for revolutionaries and supporters of revolution of India, Nepal,Greece and Philippines. Where they can all gather and take some kind of action in good coordination with each other. I am very much sanguine that are more to join (may be from Europe or other part of the world) is likely to join in that in near future. I want suggestion from other readers and participants of revleft to express their views and suggestions in this regard.

The revolutionary Greek people already showed their integrity with Indian struggle. It's now our term to pay back. If there is anyone in this forum from Greece, kindly convey the support of the Indian revolutionaries to the fighting people of Greece.
I HATE THE POSSIBILITY THAT B****** PARTIES LIKE CPI(MARXIST), CPI AND OTHER SO CALLED LEFT TAKE THE ADVANTAGE AND REVOLUTIONARIES OF GREECE WILL TAKE THEM AS THEIR FRIENDS

3 people died due to misuse of molotovs, do you think it's ok to joke about this right now? :bored:
And do you really think that a lack of weaponry is the thing needed to move things ahead?
I think your black needs a little red.

I really don't want this to become a flamewar, but I think Psycho started it by joking about burning down banks. Yeah, it's poor taste, but I'd rather focus on what good can come of all this right now.
