From what I could decipher out of the Daily Mail, it seems you lot have a hung parliament, with the bloody Tories leading in terms of seats. And something about The Tories are trying to woo the Lib Dems or something.
I also read that the BNP got it's ass handed to them.

I read a copy of the mail a couple of days before the election. What I got from that was mostly "WURRGH HUNG PARLIMENT IS SCARY!"

It wouldn't surprise me. They can join the Express who haven't stopped shitting blood since 1997.

I think only right-wing UK newspapers reach Florida...
maybe the British expatriates in/retired in Florida are mostly right-wingers?

And the stock markets are going down thanks to this.
I also read that the BNP got it's ass handed to them.I wouldn't say it was handed to them. They got some 530,000 votes nationwide. Whilst this means no actual seats, next to almost a million for UKIP, this is fucking scary. I have faith though, that a lot of people vote this way because: (a) they're angry at three main parties for being such bourgeois opportunists and (b) because they're scared of cuts, unemployment etc. in a recession. I don't think that people voted for the BNP because they're actually racist or die-hard Nazis. Ignorance and anger play a large part.

THe mail's star columnist lives in florida. I think I mention this every time florida or the mail come up but I just think it's hilarious to see him whinge on and on about the state of the UK when he doesn't live there. Oh and of course the whole hating immigrants whilst having migrated himself, the big fat hypocritical tosser.

With Griffin being the snakey oppourtunist he is, he might consider doing a Nigel Farage for us, will get him loads of publicity, a little public sympathy, and if were lucky, put him 6 feet under.

If Britain had proportional representation, would UKIP or BNP get any seats? It seems that every four years there is a massive scare that it might actually happen. Why not just give them their dusty little corner in parliament so everyone can see them at work daily?

UKIP weren't far off a million votes so I'd hope so with PR unless it had a ridiculously small number of seats. (it'd have to less than 30 for UKIP to not get a seat and 60 for the BNP not to.)

UKIP would have 20 seats and BNP would have 12. It'd give them a lot more publicity and a lot more money.

There should be two seats and instead of policy debates there should be boxing matches. It'd be fucking great. And neither the BNP nor UKIP would get anywhere near it.

lol, I think hypocrisy is a common trend among the right.
I mean, I think I remember reading some BNP woman wanting to live or living in Spain (which reminded me about all these British expatriates living in Spain and never bothering to learn Spanish...yet I bet these same people call out immigrants to "learn english" or "speak english (at all times), you're in England.")

Perhaps at first, but given that MPs wouldn't need to do whatever the fuck it is they do now I imagine they would spend a lot more time training and so on. To be honest if the success of their party's policies depends on their being able to box I don't they'd send in a substandard boxer.

I don't know. The article in the Mail said that the BNP lost big in the local elections. They also seem very keen on that posh bastard Cameron and the Tories, I believe the headline a few days ago was along the lines of "Britain chooses change" or what-have you.
Also, read an article by Little John, I can see why you lot hate him so much. And he lives in Florida? What a prick.

Yeah, these are just like the Americans who go to a foreign countries and expect everyone to speak English, yet demand that people speak English when in the US. Wankers.

I don't know what to think of UK politics. The Labour party isn't even Labor. Not that the other parties are, but they are a lot more leftist than Gordon Brown and his cohorts. The Liberal Democrats seem left, but they are also called the Liberal Democrats. Conservatism is always lame, but some countries have conservative parties that make left-wing parties in other countries look fascist by comparison.
I wish political parties would get together and establish some more consistent naming systems. No more "Communist Party of X" that is committing genocide. We should just have the international media propagate name changes or something.
Even though the BNP is terrible, proportional representation is a better system. I don't support reforming because my attitude is "don't wait" when it comes to things like this. However, I'm not pessimistic enough to argue against proportional representation simply to stop the BNP. They'll probably end up saying something stupid and being jailed under hate crime laws. More publicity = more chances to slip up and say something stupid.

I think that it is difficult to judge the number of seats that parties would get under PR by comparing to the current voting patterns.
I think that PR would change the voting patterns themselves. The attitude of many people is why vote for somebody who has no chance. If they had a chance of actually wining some seats I think that more people would vote for smaller parties.
