Just be glad it's not the species that captures other ants and enslaves them.

I once put an ant in a plastic container and put it in the freezer a few times. That way, there being ice below and above the ant, one could take the piece of ice out and it would be like one of those models stuck in hardened transparent gelatine or something. It looked pretty cool. The ant was not really alive when the ice melted however... so much for cryogenics.

I think i'd rather have ants over venomous spiders that could actually kill me.

Ant traps. But the name isn't literally true. They aren't traps. The ant goes in, picks up a small grain of sweet-tasting poison, walks out with it, carries it back to the group, and they all lick it.

Another option is a can of a permethrin powder from the hardware store, which is less toxic to people . If you got lice in your hair you would have to use a permethrin shampoo -- it's the same chemical compound. Sprinkle some of the powder on a paper plate and slide it into a space where pet cats and dogs can't get at it, such as the bottom of a pantry, under the refrigerator, etc.

Whats the best way to get rid of German roaches? Anyone know? The bastards have infested my kitchen, in-spite of my pest control. I am moving soon and I don't want to take the bastards with me (to be honest I don't even know where they came from, we never had them until like two months ago).

I unintentionally destroyed a nest of log ants today.

Not every day one has the opportunity to annihilate an entire civilisation before lunch

Well, they are in my kitchen, which isn't in Germany, but that's what they are called.
These Bastards:

^German Roach.

To be honest, I almost miss the scarier than shit, but but less virulent Palmetto Bugs that are native to this hellhole.

^That bastard can fly. Scared the living shit out of me first time I saw one. It flew at me then I tried to swat it with a newspaper.

I for one, am offended by your nationalist chauvinism.

Its hardly nationalist centrism, anti-German sentiment is hardly rife in my neck of the woods. I personally am very positive about the Germans. As an irishman (who lets face it have hardly got off lightly as a demographic) that was my attempt at caricaturing the anglo-centricism commonly encountered in the egg n chip establishments and tin hat booze tours on the southern Spanish coast.

I know irony must go over your head, but there is my carte blanche.

get big spiders that can eat them, but not ones that are dangerous to humans. ask your local pet shop.
