THE singing and dancing has already begun at the general election count in Hereford (http://www.herefordtimes.com/search/?search=Hereford).

But the noise is coming from a group of anarchists protesting against the

voting process.

The group of around 20 have also shouted anti-fascist songs aimed at the British National Party candidate and his supporters who have just arrived at the Hereford Leisure Centre.

One anarchist even managed to enter the leisure centre and shouted "preaching Nazi scum" at the volunteers counting the votes. He was quickly escorted outside the building by security.

The anarchist banners included the phrases "voting changes nothing" and "my grandparents did not vote for fascists, they shot them".

The Hereford Times were told to go away in no uncertain terms when they approached the protesters for an interview.

After nearly 600 results, the BNP has increased its share of the General Election vote but failed to win a seat.

The party increased its share of the overall vote by 1.83% to 514,819, but despite fielding more than 300 candidates, has failed to return an MP.

In Barking, east London, a key battle ground for the BNP, the party's leader Nick Griffin slumped to third place.

He said his party was "resilient". Mr Griffin was told to "pack your bags and go" by Labour's Margaret Hodge.

Labour MP Ms Hodge held the mainly white constituency of Barking, taking 24,628 votes - more than 16,000 more than any other candidate.

Mr Griffin was heckled throughout his speech with chants of "Off, off, off" and "Rubbish".

You can’t see it, but I’m giving these anarchists a round of very slow, very sarcastic applause.

I mean, they’ve demonstrated their complete lack of respect for the working class, going so far as refusing the opportunity to put across their point of view (I’d like to know what they said to have told the Hereford times “to go away in no uncertain terms”, certainly not “thanks but no thanks”).

Likewise, good on them for glorifying the mass slaughter of working class people in the Second World War.

Doubtlessly these not at all intimidating protesters will have gone home at the end of the day complaining about how everyone thinks they are extremists.

WAHEY!

BNP loses all 12 seats in Barking and Dagenham counci.

The British National Party (BNP) has lost all 12 of its seats on east London's Barking and Dagenham Council.

Labour gained 19 wards and now has control of all 51 council seats. The party also took control of Enfield, Harrow and Ealing from the Tories.

The BNP's loss in Barking in the local elections mirrored its defeat in the parliamentary elections where Labour minister Margaret Hodge saw off a challenge by BNP leader Nick Griffin, winning by a majority of more than 16,000.
