In Greece, government spending cuts are an excuse to light people on fire

I don’t think it’s hard to make a connection. The only difference is there is no similar emergency yet in America, and our Communist protestors (National People’s Action is a pretty thin veil if you ask me) are only storming bank lobbies instead of setting them on fire with Molotov cocktails. There is a worldwide pattern emerging. The narrative is that capitalism isn’t working and it has screwed over the people, who evidently now have the right to light bankers and policemen on fire because they are in danger of losing government benefits. Radical protestors, whatever label you want to put on them, are going to use emergencies like the one in Greece to take a bad situation and literally light it on fire. These people are thugs and murderers, perhaps with an international Communist agenda, perhaps only looking to create death and destruction. The one thing that is clear is that violent protest will rear its ugly head in America given enough of an emergency.

Emphasis is mine.

The right-wing people I encounter in various forums attribute the crisis in Greece to excessive entitlement and social welfare programs.

I hope the Economist doesn't have offices in Greece.

Yes, It's the same thing they said when the French had their General Strike a few years ago, the French working class had to give up its "Over Generous" benefits.

The line of the media here has basically been that all Greek government workers retire at 53 and that they have a "13th AND 14th month" (end-of-year bonus), so they've got nothing to complain about. These claims can now be found on many internet fora.

I didn't see the news yesterday, but according to Indymedia, they simply stated the "fact" that the deaths of the three bank employees were caused by anarchists.

The right wing media complaints are just a perspective...

An apologetic one towards the bourgeois. It only makes sense if one's a member of the bourgeoisie although considering that "the ruling ideas are those of the ruling class" applies strongly, especially in the U.S.

Those "over-generous" benefits and what-not were fought for in the past, they didn't come from the sky. Obviously, it's in one's usual class interest to protect benefits gained and to at times fight for more. It's the same almost everywhere among most blue collar and white collar workers especially in the public sector.
