As someone who enjoys the pleasures of cannabis every now & then, I've got to say, there's a difference between marijuana & hemp. Yes, they are of the same plant family, but hemp does not contain THC (chemical that gets people high) like marijuana does. In fact, if you tried smoking hemp, you'd more than likely get sick.

First of all, the call for the legalization of marijuana husbandry, distribution, and use is really the call for the domination of marijuana production by large, industrial-farming, enterprises. Second of all, even if that's what you want, as has been pointed out, marijuana and hemp are not the same thing.

Hemp products can be imported, apparently, but hemp can't be grown. This has to do with competition with the logging industry way back when because hemp is a good source for paper making.
