I'm not very experienced with unions, I've only been in one now for a few days.

However, I have heard much disappointment in unions coming from people, not that unions are useless, but that they aren't doing their jobs.

What type of union reform would be necessary at this point? In Canada, but as well in the USA.

Unions should be controlled by the working class and increase their networking on the basis of class solidarity and mutual support while coordinating with political parties that actively work for the interests of the proletariat. Without worker democracy, Unions become another hierarchical game easily isolated and defeated by the exploitative powers that have all the means to dominate at their disposal. If they stay boss-oriented and outside of the political arena without a connection to the left, it will hardly do any good long-term and are even limited short-term.
