Nietzsche's Ghost
1st May 2010, 05:40
I have recently begun having discussion groups in the basement of my house about all types of radical leftist politics and thought. After creating event via Facebook and inviting people (including two of my teachers who asked to be invited), my local newspaper editor said this (note I am not "friends" with him on FB, some of my friends are because they enjoy mocking him, so only through them did I find out about this.)
Editor's Status: So is this kid actually endorsing and promoting communism, anarchism, etc? Freakin' ridiculous. History teacher at W**S needs to step it up if this is the case. Or parents need to pay a little attention to their future unabomber. I hope you guys are attending the second meeting to bring some intelligence to the debate...
Reporter: I'm not absolutely sure, but I don't think Bill O'Reilly needs to be called just yet. Look who's attending. Good to see the youths having political discussions.

Friend2: I personally applaud him for not being a pushover and believing whatever his parents do, as is the case around here. I may not agree, but I respect him for having his own views (of which are nonviolent). I also don't completely understand them, which would be why I would attend the meeting. It's more information based than recruiting for terrorist ...

Editor: Actually trying to line up a story Friend2. I couldn't do the story myself. I'm far too biased.
So Reporter and Friend2, to help promote and accept multi-culturalism and different political theories, we should applaud someone locally who potentially thinks anarchism and communism is a potentially good thing?
I guess this is why I support the fight against moral decay in this country. Time to organize a local tea party.

Friend2: Anarchism has some good ideas in it, but it hasn't worked because someone always gets greedy.
Revolutionary19 isn't a full fledged commie. Maybe you'd understand he's not a crazy if you'd take the time to ask him about it, but then again, he's just another dumb kid, so why bother?

Friend1: Excellent words from my class mate, as well as from Reporter who actually earned a journalism degree.

Editor: Friend1, I earned a history degree (from the same school as Reporter). So I know a little about failed political ideologies.
Friend2, I'm working on getting one of my reporters to take the time to ask. I can't do it. I have far too much respect for the soldiers who have fought and died for this county to be able to do an unbiased interview. I see interest in or tolerance of communism and anarchism as spitting on their graves.

Editor: C'mon guys. And I was just bragging you guys up today! Don't fail me now! I need hope in the future generation!!
Friend2: Just because we accept people's beliefs that we are good friends with and KNOW that they wouldn't hurt a fly makes us a bad generation? Dang. Call me a failure, but I'd rather be a failure than a close-minded bad friend. I'd take my friends - atheist, communist, anarchist, democrat (shout out to L*****)- over some of the cruddy people that walk around W****** and call themselves 'good people'.
Editor: Woohoo Reporter! You've been lumped with atheists, communists and anarchists.
I guess what I'm saying is, you guys should feel compelled to educate yourself on reasons why full and complete tolerance is not always a good thing.
And I graduated from the University of *******. I'm sure there is an active communist group on campus.
If you're hopeful for a future generation as blind and bigoted as you (or at least this post), then you will be sorely disappointed. I have absolutely no interest in being a part of your W******** C****** version of the McCarthy Trials.

Editor: I am totally stunned by this conversation. Totally stunned.

Friend3: Seconded.

Reporter for the Paper: I looked up Student Union Activities. No Communist group, but I did see College Republicans.
Editor: Probably just having unofficial "education" meetings. I really gotta delete this post. My worldview is collapsing before my eyes.

Editor: And this is why I'll always be pissed history teachers are usually coaches who were looking for an "easy" subject to teach so they could coach. I hated history in high school and learned almost nothing. I loved it in college when I finally found teachers who care about and understand the subject.
Friend1: Editor, that's a horrible generalization.
