This video is a couple of years old, but it's still amazing

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of how much something like this would cost or when it would be more available to the public, rather than a lab experiment

I've seen this before. I swear, at some point, people are going to be getting these things because they're better than our real limbs. Instead of being seen as a crutch, it'll be seen as an upgrade.

Oh have you seen this one? The iLimb?

If it wasn't so slow and weak (the punching was sort of funny cuz I'm sure children can punch harder) I'd sign up to get my arms lopped off
EDIT: The iLimb is pretty cool too... seems like an improvement on the one I had linked. Too bad they don't really show how it works or feats of dexterity/strength

And I don't know about you, but I totally want one of these. I stumbled on this some time last year.

Hahaha the Japanese... naming their companies after ones in Terminator (Cyberdyne), and their exoskeletons after AIs (HAL)
But seriously that's beyond badass. And you can rent them today!
However, I think most of these technologies will follow the typical trend: military first, then trickle down to the public in really watered down ways.

. His study found that Pistorius's limbs used 25% less energy than able-bodied runners to run at the same speed, and that they led to less vertical motion combined with 30% less mechanical work for lifting the body

Change the tense bro. (Well kind of..)

I think what Czad meant is that able-bodied people will just get their limbs lopped off because they want artificial protheses

Yeah what Helios said. Eventually the technology will be so advanced that artificial body parts will be better than our biological ones.
