Anyone know where I can watch a movie version for free? I have a paper to write comparing the book and the movie, its due Thursday, so a quick reply would be beneficial.
Thanks a bunch,
Doc

Fine, then don't start a thread on Hemingway. Bastard :(

I would love to start a thread on Hemingway. In fact, reopened.
I personally love A Farewell to Arms, have any of you guys read it? Thoughts?
Also, I watched the Gary Cooper film version, from 1932, pretty good. But changed a lot of things and left out a ton of stuff. Anyone else see this version. Thoughts on it?

Haven't read A Farewell to Arms, but I love For Whom the Bell Tolls. I think it's weird how Hemingway seems to go from extremely progressive views to reactionary like a squashball

If I remember correctly, he was supposedly some type of socialist. But he also seemed to have a conflict about gender, so he tried to perpetuate masculinity, which he felt he should do. (which is where you talking about reactionary positions, I take it). But no, you should read A Farewell to Arms. I like it better than For Whom the Bell Tolls tbh. The Sun Also Rises is fantastic as well.

Well, gender and the cavalier way he uses racist terms
