Tips for searching for people

Has anybody got a tip for how to search for people in the U.S.?

Well, then I got another question regarding this issue.
If someone is "illegal" could he be registered in the phone directory or in a house register or is that impossible?
(I'd be much more at ease if I knew at least this answer, for this search).

If you're looking for an undocumented person, it's likely that they would be using an alias for work, phone companies, etc. so if you know what name they are going by, search for that name.

So I guess, they aren't undocumented anymore since they are registered by their real name in the phone directory (but the number doesn't work).
