I thought Hope Not Hate had a policy of no-platforming the BNP?

Would have been better if he had just headbutted the posh wanker....

Bragg should run in that area as a ind. dem socialist.

I have a very big spot in my heart for Billy Bragg. :)

I don't think Bragg does support New Labour, he's always had his heart in the right place and has been part of Left activism ever since he was young. Good singer and has some good books about what it is to be patriotic in the UK.
I'm supprised he didn't kick off more...

So what does it mean to be patriotic in the UK?

Bragg is definitely a man with a past, but he's also the man who backed a pro-war New Labour candidate against Galloway, and who is now backing the LibDems.

Good for him to deal with the BNP guy like that though.

I like Billy, but those are some liberal-ass anti-fascist arguments.

Sorry, as much as I hate the BNP I cannot take to this guy. Yes he's challenging the BNP and that's necessary. But having people preach to you about how you should vote when you live in a cramped and impoverished area would send me fucking nuts when I know the guy lives in large country house in Dorset! I'd want to batter him!

Yes, I'm your real lumpenprole, perhaps. My mother was an alchy and I brought meself up, but don't patronise me and pretend you're just like me! I don't blame black or Asian people for my predicament, but I don't want people poncing around pretending they understand me, either - when they live in great big houses and earn millions.

Well he grew up in the area, that he is well off enough now to live in Dorset isn't really something he should be ashamed of. It does seem a bit hypocritical though yeah.

Even if he were headbutted, I suspect Bragg would support any sorry outfit with a chance of winning if it kept the Tories/BNP out.

I hate it when the BNP pull suspect statistics out of their arse and then tries to connect it to the rise of a minority. It makes me want to shove a calculator down their throat. Arguing with them must be a chore because you have to go to listen to so much bullshit. Fuckers

I like Billy Bragg a lot but i hate those kind of shouting matches. There was no dialogue there at all, just two people yelling over each other. That reminded me of a Bill O'Reilly debate, and ive just wasted 6 minutes.

As we all know, Bourgeois parliamentary democracy is the best democracy.

I think this means an understanding and knowledge of social history within the society and culture into which you're born and live, which Bragg has in spades, rather than those really murky, vague traditional tabloid notions of flag of St George, two-world-wars-and-one-world-cup, we'll fight on the beaches, Terry Butcher bleeding, Stuart Pearce screaming, England 4 Holland 1, Germany 1 England 5 type thing.
