Richard Branson, rebel billionaire. Depicted as Che.
Sickening.
Why have capitalists resorted to this in an attempt to promote their values to the general public?
Why do capitalists feel like they have to appeal in this manner in order to promote capitalism?
Any other examples you guys want to paste?

Rage rage rage blah blah blah.
Why not? Why is the leftist movement something sacred and to be 'protected'? Its not sickening at all.

The only thing sickening about that is how bad they are at photo shop. Che isn't some sacred idol.

Who's talking about it being sacred? The point is that it sickens me at the level of they sink to do sell their message of capitalism. Making it seem as if capitalists like Branson are some how "rebels". IDK, it was just something I found to be silly and rather misleading, as if to make capitalists appeal more to the public.
I was talking about what they're resorting to sell themselves as heroes, not that Che is sacred.
In the US, leftist and populist iconography is heavily used by the right wing to win popular support. During the 90s the US Republicans won the Congress by stating they were conducting a "Republican Revolution" and had Ronald Reagan Che style shirts and buttons.
Cappies have turned leftist icons and messages on their head in order to market capitalism.
I would say we do the same, like the Coca Cola Communist logo. LOL.

That's just what I was thinking. They did that horribly.

It pisses me off too. It makes me even angrier thinking of how the revolutionary left made all the major advances in the labor movement and the fucking liberals try to take credit for it. Not like anyone knows or cares where any of this stuff came from to begin with. They always believe those with the biggest pocket book.
Haven't fascists been doing this for a pretty long time now?

Yes. Think of how the Nazis had a red flag and how they call themselves National Socialists. It is just disgusting. :(

Nazis stole the swastika forever :(
On the leftist side they took red flags and khaki. Simple color of the people. Khaki is kind of okay again. We have that and olive. Blue makes me think of NATO ops and black makes me think of ninjas or western anarchists. I rock khaki and olive though. I won't try to bring back the red armband though.

Yeah, the red armband is lost as far as I'm concerned.

how about black armbands? Or do you think it's all armbands? I read somewhere about people using black armbands during Vietnam or something. Or maybe I misremember.
A great corollary for this is hijacked language:
libertarian, liberated, community, revolution (conflated with reaction)
Words that have been grossly misconstrued:
liberal, socialist, anarchist, progressive, fascist, XXXX justice

i think its jut armbands for the most part, but red and black are probably the most stigmatized. id imagine yellow green or blue wouldnt have any negative connotation.
as for misinterpreted and hijacked language. i agree with those words you chose.
