View Full Version : Friend's Letter to School Newspaper
the last donut of the night

My friend wrote this letter to my school newspaper after it ran an article on Obama's "healthcare" reform and one person was critical. He takes the libertarian POV:
DEATH PANELS.
Comrade Obamas latest foray into communism will be pulling the plug on dear, old grandma. This healthcare reform bill is nothing but pure evil. my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obamas death panel so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their level of productivity in society, whether they are worthy of health care, said Governer Sarah Palin on her facebook page. The Obama administration WILL choose whomever they think is not contributing or providing enough to society and put them up to a panel who will ultimately kill them. Obamas communist/socialist virtues are ripping this countrys integrity into pieces! Even Glenn Beck, one of the wisest, most influential characters on Fox news today, agrees with Palin claiming: I believe it to be true. Mr. Beck elaborates by connecting the eugenics from Nazi Germany to death panels Ms. Palin believes are coming to America.
Obamas grandma metaphor is relevant to a statement Randal Paul made on the Glenn Beck Program in August. Randal Paul, known for his specialization in corneal transplants, stated that, some committees going to have to decide, what is the cost-benefit analysis for grandma? In other words, how much money is one willing to spend on grandmas life? Obama lied about being born in Hawaii, so why trust him and his sticky fingers with our healthcare in the first place? Barack HUSSEIN Obama is an Islamic Indonesian who should not be running this beautiful country. We need to fight this monolithic beast from imposing death panels onto the people of America! The America I know and love should not treat us (the people) as impudent swine in the face of disaster, but rather an insightful voice that must be taken into consideration if we want to survive and flourish as a nation in the name of God.

I was hoping this sentence was at the start, because this is where I would usually stop reading and start lulz'ing.

I hope that was tongue in cheek, otherwise you need better friends.
I always found the whole panicked squawking about "death panels" odd. Even if such a system were to come about I'm not sure what makes it worse than the current system of deciding whether 'grandma' gets to live or die based on how much cash she can scrounge up. The "cost/benefit analysis" has already been done, it was just done by the uncaring and dispassionate fist of the market rather than a committee.

I don't want my grandma's health to be in the hands of some government bureaucrat! I want it to be in the hands of some business bureaucrat!

How disgusting is it knowing that healthcare is a profit-motivated industry...

I deliver many news papers and even occasionally read them. You have no idea how many times I've wish for sarcasm and found none. Especially the Daily Mail, NY Post and the Local Conservative paper (the one I work for. :( )

Reading the Daily Mail makes me lose my faith in humanity.

We export the Daily Mail? Jesus fuck.
Then again it makes sense given that Littlejohn (one of the papers flagship douchebags) lives in Florida; something that always makes me chuckle when I consider he's ranting and raving about how shit Britain is and all the immigrants.
Hey maybe you could find his home and chuck molotovs at it. It'll be easy to find given that it's made of glass and he'll be there chucking stones.

Your friend doesn't take a libertarian point of view, he takes a crackpot point of view. he seems to be buying into all the idiotic hysteria surrounding the bill, which simply amounts to a handout for insurance companies. Also the claim is that Obama is from Kenya not Indonesia, if he is going to make the same ludicrous assertions other nuts are he should at least get the story straight.

I wrote that by the way, yes it is all satirical. And there have been many people who have said that Obama is not just from Kenya, but Indonesia too (probably because they heard he was "grown up there" for a little bit, but they took it way out of context). Of course, as we all know, he is an arab communist who is also a muhammad lover. We should do what the tea party is doing and bring back movements and events from the past: we should go on a crusade and kill these pesky muslims (terrorists) and while we're at it, kill anyone who isn't christian :p!!!!!!!!!

Tell your friend he fails right there.

Don't fuck with a drunk? Fuck that, man! I am criticizing his absolutely ridiculous ideology, not him being an alcoholic. What, can no one openly criticize Glenn Beck because he's an alcoholic? No one has ever made fun of him because of his problem, the only thing people have made fun of him for is his inane politics. Glenn Beck is a dangerous political character and since he's on Fox News, everyone can see him. He has even said that he isn't a politician but just a comedian...

I think 'a drunk' was referring to himself.
