This is interesting. Something I've always wondered about, but it looks like the idea is actually gaining some ground.

I've always understood that the idea of black holes leading to other universes has been around for a long time, but has generally remained a hypothesis due to the principle of parsimony.

The article was a very interesting read. I recall reading an essay on the subject about a year ago. Glad to see it developing further.

That all depends on wither or not quantum space exists.

probably nonsense. as someone said in libcom:

"And Wittgenstein suggested we shouldn't confuse what the calculus can do with what is. In an infinite universe, there is a planet somewhere (out beyond three standards of deviation) wherein reign centaurs and mermaids, merely by virtue of the laws of probability."

And you think we live in a finite universe (or multiverse for that matter)?

True, but I don't think (correct me if I'm wrong) that previous theories held that black holes acted as the origins of universes. This theory does.

I think these terms start losing meaning outside mathematics.

A gateway that a person can't use for anything, because if a person jumped in they would be pulled apart into particles.

To my knowledge the universe is infinite, and there are an infinite number of said universes. However, I don't know if black holes could be utilized to travel between them, though I have heard of the concept before.

I have a similar opinion.
It doesn't make much sense to me that black holes are gateways to alternate universes, or that any such gateways exist. I think about parallel universes more in terms of a tool to visualize probability and possibilities. Every single occurrence or decision splits universes. The many world theory I think is a far better way to view possibilities, rather than Schrödinger's cat and the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, which makes no sense. Instead of the cat being both alive and dead at the same time, it would be alive in one universe and dead in another. You just don't know which universe you're in until you open the box.

That's what I always understood.

if you are interested you MUST read parallel worlds from Michio Kaku.

Thanks for the tip gmou3. I'll definitely check that out. I enjoy hearing Michio Kaku speak. I've not read any of his books, but anytime he's on history or discovery channel, I just can't turn it off. I always love to hear what he has to say.
