Could someone recommend me a reliable book or film on this please? I watched Mr Gores film and it seemed pretty weak.

- Im looking particularly to formulate an argument as to why man made carbon emissions are causing global warming. Thank you and I appologise if this has already been posted but I had a quick look and couldnt see anything.

Im looking particularly to formulate an argument as to why man made carbon emissions are causing global warming. It's because the infrared and heat radiation that is emitted by the Earth's surface when it's struck with the Sun's rays gets trapped in carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere, which then re-emit the heat back down to the Earth. This process is known as the Greenhouse Effect. Therefore if there's more carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere, the atmosphere will re-emit more heat towards the Earth and the Earth will be warmer. In other words, global warming.

This is gone into in more detail here:

Actually, out of every book & documentary that's out there to show the realities of Global Warming, as a former conspiracy theorist who use to believe that GW was a hoax 100%, what brought me out of that phase & showed me EVERY argument against the theories while proving that GW is a FACT, then I recommend you watching every video made by Greenman3610 on his youtube channel:

I promise, you won't be disappointed.

By the way, I'll just explain the basic science as to why higher atmospheric CO2 concentrations will cause global warming, without making any arguments as to wether this is significant or not:

CO2 and other so called greenhouse gases are less transparent to infrared light than to visible light. Most of the energy emitted by the sun comes in the form of visible light (obvious when you think about it, as our eyes would naturally adapt to sensing light that is most common during daytime). On the other hand, most radiation that is emitted by warm bodies such as the earth is infrared. Thus, while energy from the sun goes through our atmosphere and hits the earth, energy goes out more slowly. The CO2 acts as an insulator, warming the earth.

It's also nice to know the difference between weather temperature & climate temperature. One of the main arguments against GW by the skeptics is that GW is just a cycle of up & down scale of temperature readings. Although their scales that they provide do show such, it's nice to know that what they're showing is what we call "weather-temperature" which measures short-term temperature readings. Though, what any climatologist will tell you that climate temperature readings are based on long-term readings.

So yes, you will see a scale of up & down scale readings, which represents "weather temperature", but if you look at it through the long term readings (climate temperature), you then notice the gradual increase of up & down scale readings - hence Global Warming.
