Hello everyone! My name is Nick, and I'm a high school socialist residing in the state of Pennsylvania. It's not my favorite place to live and leftist political activity is not widespread, but the people are for the most part polite and I've encountered many good friends here. As I said, I'm unaware of most organized rallies and groups besides protests perpetuated by the infamous "Tea Partiers," and some of the immigrant marches happening in Philadelphia.
As for my tendency, I can't fully align myself with a particular subset of socialism yet; I am still learning more about the philosophy and it's tenets. If I was pressed to do so, I would associate myself with democratic socialism; I believe the ballot box is one of the most effective ways to spur action. I've changed my views a lot over the years, and I will probably feel differently about several issues after spending some time here among other socialists, communists, and anarchists. If you're wondering why or how I formulated my views, it was largely because of several bad experiences with large companies, namely insurance, that my family is still contesting with. That, and due in part to learning about and being interested in the political system.
