I was wondering since the hammer and sickle are more to do with the USSR and the Bolsheviks. What symbols are more linked to the Left communists and libertarian Marxists.

Well left communists were at one point the majority in the Bolshevik party. I don't think symbols are important but I think most left coms use the hammer and sickle or similar variations of it.

the french communist party used to have 3 arrows. bit too SS formy likingThat was the SFIO, ie the Socialists. Unsurprising given that three arrows is a traditional social-democratic symbol. The PCF used (uses?) the Communist hammer and sickle
(For the sake of the completeness, the French Radicals didn't really have a symbol but during the 1930s they were represented by a Phrygian cap on Popular Front banners)

if with "ultra left" you mean all the parties that stood o the left of the "traditional" communist parties, usually they used a closed fist, at least in italy (search on google for democrazia proletaria or lotta continua)
the trozkyst groups usally use a reversed hammer and sickle (search on google for alternativa comunista or lotte ouvriere)
there also many groups that refers to self aid and mutualism that use as symbol two holding hands (search on google for partito sociale)

the logo with the red roses is the logo of the socialist party, that is very different from the "partito sociale"
to be complete in information, "partito sociale" is not a party, but it is a departement inside the communist party in italy

"Communisticheskie Internationale"
What does that say at the bottom under Moscow and Petrograd?
That's an awesome logo by the way, has internationalism written all over it.

Also, some common symbols of trade-unionism and left-libertarianism / libsoc are the black cat and wooden shoe. The IWW has a pretty cool logo as well.

The logo used by the ICC now is, as well as early Communist Party of Italy and its left wing has been based on the logo posted by Niccolo. The logo of the Internationalist Communist Party of Italy and other organizations originating from is a hammer and sickle.
There must have been a logo used by German left communists, but I don't know what it is to be honest.
In any case though, I feel obliged to point out that "ultra-left" is a pretty meaningless term.

I'm surprised no one's pointed out the anarchist circle A yet.
Also, I've noticed a few parties use gears in their logos, like the WPA and the CPUSA. Also, some Trotskyist groups have 4s in their logos.

Possibly because anarchists aren't left communists or otherwise Marxist.

And, they remove the hammer, the sign of the industrial proletariat from the logo: revleft.com/vb/customavatars/avatar16872_1.gif

The hammer and sickle has a long history and is not exclusive to the Bolsheviks in Russia. It dates back to the 1905 revolution in Russia, I believe. In fact, the parties of the Third International adopted the hammer and sickle symbol before the symbol was put on the official flag of the USSR. For example, the CLP of America adopted the H&S on their logo and flag in 1919, the USSR in 1922. I'm a bit of a symbologist so symbols are kind of important to me. The hammer and sickle represents a couple of things. It represents the unity of peasantry and proletariat. It also represents working class unity in general. it is also a visual representation of the slogan "from eac according to their abilities, to eac according to their needs." The Hammer represenents "from each according to their ability," as in the ability to wield a heavy hammer and build society with it. Since ancient times the sickle has come to represent harvest and plenty. The sickle "harvests" te benefits that are built by the hammer to distribute them to the masses. Hammer="From each according to their ability." Sickle="To each according to their needs." Its a universal symbol with universal meaning. As for the Left Communists, I've seen photos from the German Revolutions of 1918 and the 1920s, when the Left Communists were leading them. There were hammers and sickles and stars painted all over the streets, so historically the Left Communists should have no animosity toward the symbol. The three arrows are used by every tendency on the left and encompasses the three major points of revolutionary action: "educate, agitate and organize." I know tht YPSL uses the arrows as its official logo.
To me, the hammer and sickle is a great, powerful and inspirational symbol. It makes me want to single handedly charge an army of Nazis and Randists.

3 arrows in a circle is referred to as the "antifascist circle".
It was first used by the "Iron Front", an anti-nazi, anti-monarchist, and anti-communist paramilitary organization formed in Germany on 16 December 1931 by the SPD with the Catholic Centre Party and others, originally to counter the right wing Harzburg Front formed by the Nazis, the Stahlhelm and the German National People's Party.
