Yes I have and now you shall hear a story.

I just wanted to sort out my split ends and redo my fringe. I did all around and it went well, but as I was putting my fingers through my hair afterwards I realised that I'd cut a little bit about an inch too short. So, I had to do the only logical thing and went around again and it went well, but as I was putting my fingers through my hair afterwards I realised that I'd cut a little bit about an inch too short. So, I had to do the only logical thing and went around again and it went well, but as I was putting my fingers through my hair afterwards I realised that I'd cut a little bit about an inch too short. So, I had to do the only logical thing and went around again and it went well, but as I was putting my fingers through my hair afterwards I realised that I'd cut a little bit about an inch too short.....

.... and then I realised I'd made a bald spot...

I didnt have the money to go to a hairdresser and it was VERY obvious, not least because I'd managed to cut a good 18 inches off my hair already. Out came the razor and it all had to come off and I spent several months wearing a bandanna and getting told that "I'm so brave". I was absolutly mortified about it all. I might be gay, but short hair really doesnt suit me, especially THAT short.

Seriously, cutting hair, at least womens' hair is something not to be attempted by ammatuers. There's a reason why hairdressers spend several years in college doing courses on hairdressing and then onto apprenticeships. It's very very easy to mess up and a bad result is long lasting.

1. Cover intire head in hair removal cream
2. polish

If you actually want to keep some hair after cutting I wouldn't do it yourself ;)

I tried to cut it once w/ scissors, looked terrible and ended up using an electric razor to make the same length all around.

Scissors are slow and don't produce an even result - I use a clipper. Style ranges from skinhead to army recruit. I don't like having short hair and try to delay cutting it for as long as possible. But having long hair gets to be too much work.

Buy an electric shaver, its cheaper then a hair cut from the hairdresser and you have an unlimited amount of free fast haircuts which look good.
I always go for 7mm all over and a little shorter around the ears and the neck.

I'm a guy with long hair, and I like to cut it myself. When it starts getting longer than I prefer, I simply tie it up in a pony tail and cut it off. It always turns out fine for my purposes. I like to keep it about shoulder length.

it can be as complicated or as simple as ou want. If your willing to have many, many botched haircuts you can, by trial and error mostly, learn to cut your hair pretty much anyway you want. basic chops can be learned pretty quickly. hardest part is getting it even

alot go the simplest route. and it sounds like this: *bzzzzzzzzzzzzt*

I shave my own head sometimes. Grade three all over does the job!

I've been cutting my own hair for the past three years and while I have screwed up a few times overall I've done pretty well. I generally go for assymetric, choppy cuts with longish hair so I don't have much room to screw up because a mistake could actually fit in unless it's really bad :p

I usually shave my hair down to practically nothing (clippers with no guard. Leaves about a millimetre of hair) but I've lost me bloody clippers. Grrr.

i wouldn't recommend cutting your own hair, usually doesn't turn out well. I knew a kid back in junior high who tried to cut his own hair, but ended up only cutting the front and the back, leaving wings on the side. looked rediculous

He's got a point. It's fucked. I last cut my hair 4 weeks ago and I still regret it.

I'm a success story. A few weeks ago I decided I couldn't afford to go to the barbers, so I used my brother's old home hair-cutting kit. I gave it a number 8 all over. Took me a while, but afterwards everyone assumed I had gone to the barbers, I did such a good job. If you want a simple haircut, doing it yourself is relatively easy.

I've used cheap clippers to maintain my crew cut for years. I'd rather not have any hair, but a sunburned scalp isn't fun either.
