View Full Version : Oh God...Another Glenn Beck Special

Drace

So I have Glenn Beck's fan page added on Facebook. He posted this:

On TV tonight we're doing something you just won't see anywhere else. A full hour on America & God. I hope you join me at 5pm on Fox News!

I'm really scared. This post has near 5000 likes and a 1000 comments.

Unfortunately, I can't watch it because I don't have the channel.

I watch MSNBC.

They really covered the miner incident and the fact that the corporation was cited for numerous worker violations. They pointed out that at least two violations were cited on the very same day the miner incident happened.

They were the first to cover Americans shooting innocent civilians.

The Ed Show has been hammering Glenn Beck, Michelle Backman (whatever her name is), and Sarah Palin for their absurd insinuations like that we shouldn't have a census (hey, at least it's giving people jobs - people who are out of work here should look into it, good for students).

The guy Dylan something or other, who I thought was Libertarian for his insinuation that we're not really "capitalist," has nonetheless been hammering the corporations for lobbying against regulations and for polluting the environment. He's been calling for small business rights and workers rights (pointless as a tactic, but may be needed to save lives here in America at the moment).

This is all in the last week mind you. I think it signifies what an awful mess capitalism is in, but when I don't have time to read I usually watch that channel instead of the hate speech and racism on Fox.

(While, not that it matters, Glenn himself makes about $23 million a year) it might be of interest to our worthy website owner that Beck's website alone makes him about $3 million.

A change in politics might make our Beloved Leader quite wealthy.

I've only watched his show a few times, but he is one the very few t.v anchors that I can tolerate hearing talk about politics. The critiques I've seen him make of the health-care plan seem to come from an almost social democratic perspective (which is at least better than the bullshit rightwing attacks thrown at Obama).

He might be doing this to cover his ass about the whole "Social Justice Christians" debacle he had a while ago.

I have never heard something from Glenn Beck that has made me laugh, Jon Steward is kind of funny, but Glenn beck, I don't know where the comedian thing comes from.

As Far as America and God??? As a religious man the very idea that Glenn Beck would bring God into anythink he says makes me want to stomp his head in.

Bud Struggle

The problem with Glenn Beck is that while he may be funny to some (and I see the humor)--he is DEADLY serious to millions. And he spews hatred. Funny or sad or lame or however one has a hatred of people because of their race or religion or nationality or sexuality, it should ALWAYS be condemned.

Listen Comrades: Beck very often has the same point of view as I do on economics, but his hatred of those that disagree with him, his vilification of those peoples that aren't "American" enough for him is enough for me to distrust and dislike him completely.

I would suggest never, NEVER laugh off people (from the right or the left) that base their ideology on the hatred and vilification of others. Weather comming from Communist or Capitalist point of view--these people are our common enemy.

There are things in this world more important than economics.

Yes! Its true! Dry-erase boards are made in China (Remember, when you hear the word China and you're watching Glenn Beck you're obligated to put on your Xenophobe Tinfoil hat) and chalk boards are made in the good ol' US of A (Cue applause).

Right. Every dissenter is all love and smiles aren't they, it's not possible that those dirty violent commies would act in self defense.

While as an anarchist it's not really my place to defend "communist" regimes past or present your post is a stinking hypocrisy. "Dissenter" doesn't automatically mean "innocent" after all.

A perspective on that.

But yes if you hear is material in the 1990s, it's different from what it is now. It's obvious he just adjusts his views to what ever the populist rage machine is feeling, and moves himself in a position to make money off that.

I take it you've given up calling yourself a social-democrat then :P?

Jon Stewart doing Glenn Beck is hilarious. I personally love Stephen Colbert. Love!

I saw that and from a purely comedic standpoint, Jon Stewart is one of the few people that can mix politics and comedy (generally the mix is disasterous, no matter what side your on), but Glenn ... I don't know, I don't see any comedy at all, except for laughing at his own nonsensicle ramblings, he reminds me of those crazy homeless people who will yell some random words and then spend the next half hour laughing their ass off. I know 5 year olds that are better comedians than glenn beck.

and seeing his audience interviewed, and the type of people that take hims seriously, it makes absolute sense.

As something of a self made man myself I do like the part of his message that says people with certain abilities and and a willingness to work hard and smart could be successful and reasonable well off if they so desired. That's why I'm a SD and not a Socialist. SD provide an outlet for people like me. :)

The idea that social democracy is the only compatible ideology for hard work being rewarded is a false dichotomy.

There is absolutely no reason why socialism can't do the same. All socialism (in the technocratic sense at least) seeks to do is stop people being punished for not being good at things which contribute to the market.
